   Flooding is expected - immediate action required
   River levels are high but steady at the Blyth river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is possible until tomorrow morning, 27/10/19. Areas most at risk are Scrooby, including Serlby.
   We are closely monitoring the situation.
   Please avoid contact with flood water.
   This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.

   Areas affected: River Teme at Leintwardine and Walford
   
   ACTIVE

   Flooding is expected - immediate action required
   River levels have risen at the Leintwardine river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Flooding is affecting properties and roads in Leintwardine and Walford including the A4113 at Leintwardine.
   We expect river levels to remain high over the weekend and into early next week.
   We are closely monitoring the situation.
   Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

   Areas affected: River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook

   Flooding is expected - immediate action required
   River levels are rising at the Llanymynech river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland remains. Flooding is affecting properties and roads in and around Maesbrook.
   Predicted peaks:-Llanymynech 4.3m to 4.5m this evening.
   
   We expect river levels to remain high throughout the weekend and into early next week.
   We are closely monitoring the situation.

Flooding causes travel disruption in Wales and Shropshire

Roads and rail services have been affected as heavy rain fell across most of Wales and parts of England.

A mother and child had to be rescued from a trapped car by firefighters, after it became stuck in flood water at Garthmyl near Montgomery in Powys.

Up to 3in (80mm) of rain was expected in south-east and south-west Wales, according to a Met Office weather warning.

There were also 24 flood warnings in place across Wales and 55 in England.

In Nottinghamshire, three people were rescued by the fire and rescue service from a flooded car at Rufford Ford.


Rail services, including the Cambrian and Heart of Wales lines, were among those hit.

Transport for Wales (TfW) advised rail travellers to check journeys before travelling.

Flooding has led to numerous line closures, including between Shrewsbury and Welshpool, Crewe and Hereford. Bus replacements were being organised.

Services were also hit between Chester and both Liverpool and Manchester.

Meanwhile, there was flash flooding across Shropshire affecting some homes.

Several trunk roads and minor road in Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Ceredigion, Monmouthshire, Powys and Wrexham have been shut.

In Builth Wells, Powys, the A483 has been closed northbound at Broadway, with Stagecoach Wales warning it is unable to use the town's bus station.

The A469 between Ystrad Mynach and Llanbradach is blocked in both directions by flood water, while highways officials closed the A4048 at Troedrhiw, Blaenau Gwent at about 14:00 BST.

The A465 has also been shut at Llangua, Monmouthshire, heading towards the A40 Hardwick roundabout at Coldbrook.

Dyfed-Powys Police has urged motorists only to make "urgent journeys" in flood affected areas, including around Montgomeryshire, after a mother and child needed help on the A483 when their vehicle became stuck.

"Do not take unnecessary risks," warned Dyfed-Powys officers.

TfW and Network Rail said they would monitor the situation and provide extra staff and buses where needed.

North Wales Police said the A525 Marchwiel near Wrexham was closed due to flooding between the junction for the A528 and the Cross Lanes roundabout. A vehicle also overturned on the A494 near Ruthin, Denbighshire.

But at the summit of Snowdon, snow was the problem - with the mountain railway facing disruption too.

Nottingham Forest's home match with Reading in the Championship was among postponements because of waterlogged pitches.

In Derbyshire, the Matlock Bath Illuminations show was cancelled after the River Derwent burst its banks.

Temporary traffic lights are in place on the A44 at Lovesgrove, Aberystwyth, after the river burst its banks, according to Traffic Wales.

And the A487 road has flooded at Blaenplwyf, near Aberystwyth, and the A483 at Abermule, near Newtown in Powys, which is said to be passable with care.
