I'm sitting out on my front porch as usual...thankfully, we got more rain late afternoon..all gone now..was getting ready to go in and upstairs to tuck in but neighbors shooting off fireworks already...not sure how much later I can stay awake...is anyone doing anything exceptional for 4th this year? I have some T bones and ribeyes out and 3 racks of ribs I'll marinate tomorrow...to throw on smoker. Used to go to beach to watch fireworks on 4th when i lived on amelia island..but now that I moved out a bit more rural.. Our neighbors put on fantastic show of fireworks the whole weekend each night. I think I'll stay right here..they are lightening it up good!

4th is a scary time for me here. News this AM-40 miles north fires set off by idiots with fireworks in a rural area.
Right now I am happy to be fogged in and misted.
A normal year I might say let’s go to the upper field and watch several cities shows. Been so dry, it would be like being on fire watch This year.

Texas is too dry to be setting off fireworks, too. Burn ban in place down at our BOL. Not one here in the city to my knowledge. I suspect there will be yard watering restrictions soon though.
Way too dry here too. But the state that bans plastic straws, doesn’t have common sense for their wildfire problem. ”safe and sane ones” are ok in the cities where they are allowed. But these hood rats take them and other types into the rural areas to make their own shows.

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident: that all Men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness: that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it's foundation on such principles, & organizing it's powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness. Prudence indeed will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light & transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses & usurpations begun at a distinguished period and pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such government, & to provide new guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these United States; & such is now the necessity which constrains them to expunge their former corrupt administrators of government. The history of the present unelected President Joseph Biden a history of unremitting injuries & usurpations, among which appears no solitary fact to contradict the uniform tenor of the rest but all have in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this let facts be submitted to a candid world for the truth of which we pledge a faith yet unsullied by falsehood.

I'll drop this moving video on your 4th of July thread, for your edification. History teachers can barely scratch the surface of each chapter in the book to cover the curriculum by year's end, but Harvey lets us know what the signatories of our Declaration really put on the line. Some lost everything.

Not many people today would be willing to make that kind of sacrifice for freedom; they do little more than give it lip service. :( The signatories to the Declaration had everything to lose by doing so, yet they did it anyway.
Paul Harvey...they don't make them like him anymore. I miss him and his wisdom.

I think you meant this one...from his radio show?

The man had almost a prophetic vision of cause and effect. Written in 1965 regarding Communism, ask yourself if this is not exactly what we see happening today...

I like this one:

And this one

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The above changed my life and how I treat others more than 20 years of 6 days a week formal religious education!
