I have moved to a more secluded environment but now I need to start seriously getting ready. So thats the reason for the question I have an extra $500 to do with as I please and would like to spend it on prepping. Any advice for a wise way to spend the cash.

Thanks

I agree with Roninsensei

Do you have a Bug-Out-Bag (BOB), then consider making one. If you need a list their are many who have given feedback, if not I can send you more than enough pdf's that suggest it. First check the forum. Clyde and the rest have placed some great info on this site.

How is your stock of food and water? If not more than 7 days, go for 30, if 30 go for 3 months, then so on.

How are you first aid supplies...do you have more than a few band-aids? Do you have a trauma kit? Do you have CPR training or Wilderness EMT training? If not, you could use money for training.

How is your sustainment plan? Do you have seeds, do you have the tools to farm?, etc.

If you run out of ideas...then Bullets..Bullets, make a great barter tool.

In order:

BOB (Bug out bag)
WATER STORAGE/COLLECTION
WATER PURIFICATION

$500 is a good start but not knowing what you already have and who is involved with you makes it difficult to offer much advice, on that note;

Stainless Steel water bottle
Water purification/treatment
Fire starting (4 method approach)
A good knife
Knowledge! in foraging for food in your area, basic shelter, fire starting/maintaining, water treatment and practice practice practice what you have learned
