Each year, emergencies and natural disasters test our readiness and challenge our resolve. While my Administration is working tirelessly to avert national tragedies, every American shares a responsibility to be prepared. By planning for severe weather and other emergencies, you can protect yourself and your family and contribute to your community's preparedness.
On the National Day of Action, I challenge all Americans to learn more about the hazards that could threaten your community-from tornadoes and wildfires to floods and hurricanes. Develop a family plan and practice it to make sure you and your loved ones know the best ways to react to an emergency. Get involved with your community's emergency preparedness and help others do the same by sharing your story of how you planned ahead.
When our Nation faces crisis, we respond with unmatched determination and resilience. Let us honor the strength our people show in times of adversity by preparing ourselves, our neighbors, our schools, and our workplaces before disaster strikes.
