In a cabin, on a mountain, in "Wilderness" Alaska.
I need a 100% accurate answer, no guessing please. Been likely 60 or 65 years I last made Jell-O. If I make it and after its set-up, if I then set it out at room temperature for 12 hours, will it remain jelled or turn to water.....?? Also is boiling hot water 100% required or will hot tap water work.....???

Any idea what happens if you freeze it, then thaw it.....???

I don't ever make the stuff, but it stays pretty solid at room temp in my experience. Of course when I made Jello 30 years ago it had Everclear in it so that might have had something to do with it... :dancing:

That's more than ONE Jello question!!

I've made my share of Jello in my life. Jello does better if you put it in the fridge to set up. It may not set up at room temperature, depending upon how warm or cool your home is. It is not good to let Jello freeze, in my experience. There will be ice crystals, and when it thaws a little, there will be water on the top of the Jello.

Inquiring minds want to know: What are you doing with Jello?

You can use Jello to make up a beverage to drink before it sets up. It is good for dehydration. When I had my tonsils removed when I was six, Jello was one of the few things that I was allowed to eat for a few days. Sherbet was another.

Special diet prior to medical procedure. But I'll have to dogsled into town the day prior and be in a hotel.

I only remember 2 things about jello:
1. I ate tons of it growing up and nobody managed to screw up making it.
2. They gave away free kites to any kid that bought a 10¢ spool of kite-string.
We had them everywhere!
Fortunately they were free, because we crashed a bunch of 'em!

You had a dime? You had a Jello kite to fly.:D

Yes use boiling water.
No don't freeze it.
With tap water it makes a good warm beverage.

Half boiling water, then half cold water, then fridge. You can substitute cold vodka for the cold water.
OK........so I am thinking, make it with the hot/cold water, and pour it into a zip-lock bag, and put in refrigerator.

Boil it for a bit, thoroughly stirring to make sure the sugar gets dissolved.
Last time I left it out letting it get to room temperature, it did get watery.
Check your medical info to see if color matters. Sometimes yellow is all that’s allowed and another color may cause trouble with the procedure.
Good luck to you.
Fridge for a few hours is best.

You can make it a little thicker with less water and pour it into a pan and put in the fridge. Cut into slices. Isn't it cold enough outside to be considered refridgerated? The water has to be hot enough to dissolve the jello. Then the cold water. Then chill. It'll get watery if you room temp it.

Puddin' horse hoof free:
In a Teflon pan, lightly brown some flour and about 1 part to three corn starch.
add milk slowly, and one beaten egg white, stir until it thickens and the lumps go away.
add your flavoring to taste.
Stir well, serve cold.

Well, who knew? Not me! I thought those tests were done with urine samples.
Yup. the whiz quiz can be cheated on.
you can also flush your system with baking soda and distilled water.

I knew a young woman who had to submit to urine tests. I found out that you can buy and sell urine for the very purpose of drug tests. She would get hers from someone else and go in to take her test. Somehow, she always passed. I found out from her that there is synthetic urine for this same purpose. This woman is an addiction counselor now.

This may go against your manly nature, but the directions are on the box. It is super easy to make.
You do remember that I live in the Alaska wilderness, have to snowshoe up and down my mountain and was last time I was in town 16 months ago. 60-65 years ago, I made a lot of Jell-O, I would but fruit cocktail in it.

The challenge is not the making it, but hauling it 135 miles to a hotel, keeping it from freezing or returning to liquid. In the last three weeks it has been 21 below zero and 48 above. I did just order 12- 3oz. boxes of Peach and Pineapple flavored Jell-O.

I had a buddy get his girlfriend to get her baby brother's pee, she got lazy or missed her opportunity so she used her own.

Guess who the doctor asked how long it was since he stopped his mensural cycle?

..The challenge is not the making it, but hauling it 135 miles to a hotel, keeping it from freezing or returning to liquid. ..

Got a 'Wide-Mouth Thermos' (ya know, like the kind that's good for hauling yer Rabbit Stew around? ;) and a thermos-length Spoon? 🤔 Make it as normal, then 'set' in the Fridge, in-thermos (lid-off or just loosely-covered (Not 'sealed') to help it chill / set properly) for a bajunch of hours / overnight, etc until Well-set..

..Then, when you get to yer destination, it should certainly be in 'better shape' than in a plastic baggie, and you can set the Thermos in a 'hot water bath' for a few minutes to help 'loosen it up', then use the spoon to eat / schlock it out into a bowl, etc..

Just a thought, Godspeed to yer Trip / Procedure, Cap'n.. 👍 Oh, and the Only "stupid question" is the one Not Asked.. (..Then again, 'AOC' often demonstrates Shining Exceptions.. ;)

If you be packin' peach and pineapple, pretty sure you are getting a colonoscopy.
Do whatever it takes to get it done!!!
They save people from dying needlessly.
My 2 brothers didn't, and would tell you, but dead people don't talk.
CC took them both:cry:.
