Going rogue here, so grab your tin foil and hear me out.

AI = artificial intelligence. As I understand it this implies intelligence, as if the digital being can think and process and create. But none of the stuff we are calling AI can do that. All it can do is Google stuff really really really fast. For example, if you ask an "AI" to write a war story about Vietnam it can almost instantly process mass amounts of data about Vietnam and the War and read hundreds of books, articles and stories about the military action in that country. It will then produce a story that is a sort of conglomeration of everything it Googled into a story that may or may plagiarize the info it processed but will definitely seem somewhat similar without flowing as well the real thing. But even then it is limited to the instructions it was given and the data it can access. Hence the black George Washington Google was putting out there. But is that intelligence? Or is just a computer regurgitating something created by a human? I think it is the latter.

I also think we are being sold a product that isn't what they claim it is. A product that will soon infiltrate your phone, your tablet, your computer and every computer. And if you are concerned about what big brother can see while you're on the net, or off the net, can you imagine what they will be able to hear, see, surveil and plant when they have that kind of access? Just saying, the whole AI thing feels like a slow and steady sneak attack on us and short of moving into a cave I am not so sure what we can do about it.

If you have a genius child but only let them learn from biased nonsense the genius kid will be a fool.

AI is the buzz word for the year. Much of what is touted as AI is not. Many are Expert Systems that are developed by human developers. Or they are automation which is effective at repeatedly performing a process like flipping burgers.

The current AI are capable of learning from the information it has access to in one form or another. It relies on neural networks which can adapt its processing based on what it has experienced and feedback as to correct or incorrect attempts. See this video to see how neural networks can learn.

As has been said here, AI can research and pull data fast.
It has been used in the legal profession by downloading templates and filling them in somewhat.

But there is no way an AI system can occupy a seat on a state or federal supreme court.
It cannot rely on logic to pioneer deeper into new law interpretations.

Therefore, AI cannot "Think" as we define thinking.

Multiple AI systems have said that humans need to die.
Nuff said.
But if the AI I have to deal with trying to sell me a car warranty, check my bank balance or insurance status are any sign, AI is retarded.
