In a cabin, on a mountain, in "Wilderness" Alaska.
I’ve been captivated by Alaska for years. I’ve read so many books, and always enjoy hearing about Alaska from friends who live there. Maybe, someday, I’ll enjoy a drive there. For now, I’ll enjoy what you’re sharing.
Sure beats New York.

New York is very beautiful, if you erased 88% of the buildings. Roughly what part of NY do you live.....?? I spent a fair amount of time in western NY.

About an hour south of Rochester, in the Finger Lakes. Still nice and peaceful, but not what it was 40 years ago. There’s hope, though, as the Mennonite community is expanding like crazy and buying up serious land and properties. Forget the lake area, but beyond that there’s a quiet revolution going on.

I served four years in a State Institution in Rochester, NY. While madly in love with a beautiful lady from Wellsville, NY. High School at Medina, NY.

I've travelled the highway, great memories - pic of Chugach lake

It’s been a few years since I’ve camped on the Kenai, and the wife just said “let’s go!” So in the morning we will be heading down that highway and then take the cutoff heading to Homer. We will load up with seafood and then try to find a nice quiet spot along Skilak Lake. Weather looks perfect too!

Sourdough, thanks for posting this as it led to a fun getaway. Want me to bring you some fresh seafood on my way back?
