Noticed a couple of slip ups in those videos that mainly pertains to geographic, Pacific Northwest and the Northwest are not the same generally speaking ;) Pacific Northwest (Oregon/Washington) Northwest (Idaho/Montana/Wyoming)
Idaho/Montana also known as Inland Northwest. Oregon/Washington AKA California North.

what is needed is a rural location with low population numbers, like where I am.
mild climate, not too cold, not too hot, long growing season.
remote with hills and rivers and lots of wildlife.
was told by a professional person, a doctor no less, that we are "living on the edge of everything and in the middle of nowhere".
suits me, people in the UK will tell you " nowhere is safe in the UK" but they are usually living in a big city and don't know any better.

I have recently moved from South Florida to North Central Florida, which is more to my tastes. The people here seem conservative, the climate is less tropical than Palm Beach County, and it's less populated.

I'm actually in horse country. We're surrounded by sprawling horse ranches, yet close enough to the city for convenience. We are actually rather close to Silver Springs State Park, and far enough north that we can evacuate into Georgia or Alabama if we need to.

I'm homesick for South Florida, but more for how it was. 30 years ago, the coral reefs were nice, the Everglades weren't destroyed in the way that they are now, and violent crime was more or less confined to the cities.

Now, everything is turning into a ********, so I guess I'm nostalgic for how it was 20 and 30 years ago. It hasn't been that way for a long time.

I was seriously considering uprooting to ID for a long time. Till I found the elephant in the living room.... forest fires! They will be a huge problem in a collapse scenario. Also it's just to cold for me to move from Maine to ID. I'm looking at the mountains of WV/VA as it is still very remote, has lots of water, NO environmental threats, conservative peoples ect, yet it is quite a bit warmer than Maine.

Daniel8, make sure you check out the area you are considering in WV very carefully. Due to economic downfall, many people left the mountain areas in WV. What is left are mostly on public assistance and with that the expected low self-esteem. As with big cities, this leads to big drug usage and the associated violence. I get very depressed any time I visit my "home" (WV) because of the decline, especially with the resident that are left.

WV can be a paradise, for all the reason you state, but you also need to review the surrounding of the specific area you are considering.

Me and Arctic deal with forest fires during fire season, I have a well with a high pressure pump and irrigation system to wet everything down and a dozer to cut fire breaks. It's just something we have to prep for, luckily fire season is short as opposed to winter :)

I love the scenic beauty of the area and remoteness, bu the winters are a no go for me. I see a lot of positives in the area but after growing up in Florida I don’t think I could adjust to the extreme cold at this stage in life. Whatever part of the country you find yourself in just be aware of its resources and the pros and cons of it. I am a firm believer that living in as rural of an area as you can is probably the best thing you can do considering the shape of the world right now. I don’t think it’s a matter of if the bubble is going to burst but more of a when. Setting yourself up in a good place now while times are still good is probably the most important decision you can make as a prepper. Access to water, ability to grow food, some sense of security, sustainability. All things to consider.

Good choice Daniel.
