just curious anyone heard what Clyde and Roninsensei are up to?

I have friends in the area. They have their essentials loaded in the car & are ready to leave with a minute's notice. Not exactly preppers, but at least not stupid. Oh wait, they live near LA, I'll take back the last statement. Everyone there is in constant vigilance. The problem is how the fire is spreading: one ember goes 2 miles & in 2 minutes another fire is starting. EVERYTHING is kindle.

Of course they never do controlled burns there, so this is all self-created by the tree-hugging califoristans. I am saddened by the losses, but make no mistake that this could have been prevented easily (at least the size of all these fires).

Even the Indians did controlled burns.
And before anyone jumps on me for using the "I" word...here is the web site of the Indian tribe in Mississippi where I grew up. Notice what they call themselves:
http://www.choctaw.org/

Doc, please educate me. Has 'indians' joined the long list of 'bad words'? What should be used instead, 'native americans'? 'Indigenous'? Or just the tribe name 'choctaw'? I've heard 'redskins' is verboten (the football team), oh well. Or is this just confusing with asian-indians?

I don't get all this word-thought-police stuff. Any word can be used in way to insult. Heck, 'whites' has been used extensively as a insult lately ('white privilege', etc). Does that mean white people need to find a new word to describe themselves (how about 'colonial Europeans'!)? It seems every time a group wants attention, they throw a fit over their 'name' and re-invent a new 'title'.

Sure... whatever. (note you have to say this term with massive disdain)

Texas, my son's teacher "corrected" me about using the "I" word when he was in middle school. Told me I shouldn't say that, the proper way to refer to them is "Native Americans."

I told her I was born here too!

My father told me that I might be part Choctaw. I recently sent off a DNA kit to Ancestry.com. I guess I'll soon know for sure!
