I had some Thorogood boots similar to the second link. It felt like they never would break-in and hurt my feet. I would try another pair but in pull-on.Personally, always been very happy with Thorogoods' offerings, ie: Have these:

I wear Redwing #4402. Very long lasting and pretty comfortable. I get 18 months or a little more out of a pair. They cost around $235, but I get a discount through my job.@Spikedriver has to have heavy duty work boots working on the railroads. Maybe he'll speak up. I buy hikers which work well in the woods or here doing regular farm work. Made by Meindl, really good boots but they don't make boots for heavy industry work.
