I do follow it over, the last couple years at least. Although it has been pretty volatile throughout the election "season", the ups and downs have been pretty modest, usually fluctuating up or down by around $2-10 a day. There was a drop of around $50 last week; but today, it dropped $93! I fear the move to reset the nation/world to a national/global digital currency is impending. Someone tell me I'm wrong. I'm no economist, but I find this great of a drop in one day quite alarming. Someone tell me I'm wrong.

I’m not a financial expert, but it seems the economy of the US is a house of cards that could collapse at any moment. And the ‘election’, of Sleepy Joe probably won’t help. I’ve been investing in silver for several years now, but when the SHTF having a large supply of lead will be just as valuable.

I know the economists I've tried to listen to on the internet have been saying the monetary system in the US was going to collapse, but they've been singing that song for years. I'm reading such a drop as an indicator those financial analysts may finally be seeing the "promised" slide into financial oblivion begin. A monetary reset to digital will be devastating to most without "hard" metal assets in hand.

JMHO but gold is a little pricey for me at $1850 ish an ounce. I too have gone the silver route. It is a little easier the shell out $200 per shot rather than $2000.

We've been investing in both metals for several years now.......but those investments aren't the only or lion's share of our assets and investments. Most experts say that when the "reset" comes, the swap of physical dollars to digital currency will appear to be value-equivalent, but it in fact will NOT be equivalent, as they are also the ones driving the inflation monster. Its a way to steal our money (poverty facilitates their enslavement/control agenda) without outright debiting it directly from our bank accounts.

1/10 ounce Gold American Eagles are going for close to $200 right now on EvilBay. But I do think silver has more room to grow than gold, the only problem is, silver just takes up so much darned space in the safe.

I'd like to see gold drop at least another $1,000. Its been way too high for a long time now.
As with any investments, buy on the dips and sell on the highs.

So does lead, brass & powder. But I only complain a little... I got a lighter weight, maybe 500 lb safe for those items. I'm guessing it's well over 1000 lbs as is right now.

Say, can you make ammo with a mixture of lead and tin mixed? :) My husband has literally tens of thousands of lead/tin 1" military wargaming figures he has collected/painted over 50 years. I'd like to think those little gaming guys might turn out to earn their keep one day! LOL

Tin is more expensive than lead! And yes you need tin, but not very much. Tin lowers the melting point and also lowers the surface tension which helps fill out the mold and keep the surface of the bullet from wrinkling.

You can make some beautiful bullets with just tin and lead but not very hard. You need antimony for that. Tin does harden the bullet just a little, but too much only makes the bullet light.

Well, shucks. He just confirmed his lead soldiers are more tin than lead, as they changed the composition when all the lead health scares came out. Guess those legions will just have to stay in the war room in their boxes for good then. Thanks for the reply though. :)

You might can use one or two of them as a source of tin. Wheelweights sometimes don't have enough tin in them to drop good bullets (because tin is expensive), and just a very small amount of extra tin can make wheelweight lead cast much better.

I have found sources of pure lead in larger quantities that I can ever use, so I'm always needing more tin and antimony.

Well, even if we did have the molds, and the metal mixture was right, my husband has developed what is called an "essential tremor" in his right (dominant) hand that is bad enough I wouldn't want him handling pouring molten ANYTHING as it would be too precarious for him. Watched a guy years ago in Houston making his own "little soldiers" and he had plenty of burns to testify to the fact that molten metals are dangerous to work with. I confess it was a fleeting nice thought for all the "boys" down in our basement though. Can you tell I have a love-hate relationship with my husband's toys of 51 years?

Our most recent acquisitions were overwhelmingly silver as well. A whole lot cheaper and used in so many manufacturing/medical arenas, always a good investment...........even on "the other side" of chaos. :)

And we won't even talk about the "Tinsel Fairy" LOL.

But you can protect yourself from the Tinsel Fairy with long cuff welding gloves, face shield, leather shoes, long sleeve heavy cotton shirt, and extra long thick cotton pants.

Which reminds me of an incident in the airport. I kept setting off the alarm and they kept searching me and couldn't find out what was causing it. I later discovered that I had a tiny bit of lead that had splattered on my pants, so small you could barely see it.

Really? That's your big 'issue'? If so, you should worship at his feet. Do you know how many women would kill to have a man who's big issue is a 'toy soldier' problem? Razzing you, but making a point.

kindly off topic.. sorry

I have used 25lb of magnum shot with 5% antimony for my Colt 45 at cowboy velocity.

Just looking at 25lb bag, man did the prices go up :( *sigh

And how well I know that. He puts up with me collecting china, so it's "fair and balanced" all in all. :) He's a keeper, for sure, lest we wouldn't have lasted 51 years and counting. :)
