Look, the LAST thing you want in a post SHTF world is a shoot-out.

The best way to avoid that, is to just stay away from everyone.

If you see someone post SHTF....HIDE. At least until things settle down.

OK, now think about Hershel's farm. Know why he survived so well, as an older guy, and with two gals to look out for? Because he was HIDDEN all that time....that's why.

Even the best castles ever built were eventually sacked. Having an awesome mad max tank is just going to make you a target for those that want to take it.

You will want something that can go off road to get around road blocks and go cross country. You don't want a lot of extra weight from armor bogging you down.

Dont sacrifice mobility for armour, if you must use Kevlar sheeting not steel plate , use laminating film on the glass not shuttering, improve off road and wading capability

In very little time, post SHTF, a truck would become a tent only. Eventually, gas supplies will dry up, etc.

Man, I have a horse, but I'm really not looking forward to riding everywhere...lol.

I’d go with a atv or dirt bike and just stick with off-road. You will use way less gas and a lot of the roads will become unusable without maintenance anyways.

I agree with no armaments. Simly because the truck will suck through gas more quickly. Truck will be slower at take offs and stops.higher maintace.etc etc.is the truck a 4 door?and/or have extended/crew cab section? A trap door.kind of like a sunroof can be installed.maybe a camper where it's roof comes up flush with the cabs roof.again trapdoors. People with rifles can use them to shoot from.
