I am wanting to obtain a few hand grenades to have in case shtf and I am faced with a dangerous situation.

Now I know pretty much any route you take to buy them would be an illegal purchase. But is there any way to legally possess hand grenades?

Google owning destructive devises. Add your state to find out more about your local laws.

In what sort of situation would you be using hand grenades? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I am genuinely curious.

It's an NFA item, requires a tax stamp per grenade, proper storage facility, an ordnance license and a good reason, problem is finding a place in the States to sell them to you and must be purchased legally in the States but then you have State law to contend with! Good luck.

Hand grenades are useful if the threat is behind a wall or some other structure that a gun couldn't penetrate. A hand grenade could be thrown behind the structure.

Maybe....
Have the KNOWLEDGE of how to make them, and
the MATERIALS to make them (stored in separate places), and then IF things go south, make them then?

Otherwise, you'll end up as one of those preppers that get jailed once they go too far.

Or one of those preppers that explodes himself all over his own kitchen!

How about you avoid it completely and when it all goes bad, figure it out then... Reality is a molatov will do just the same. And they are easier to make.

I had some HAZMAT training when I was in EMS.

You better really know what you're doing when you start to screw around with explosives.

Really.

One mistake while you're mixing them up will make your kitchen wall look like a Jackson Pollack painting.

Explosives can go off by themselves just from age and humidity. Rats and mice have set them off. So can static electricity.

And so on.

If you really decide to do this, then please be careful. Especially for the sake of your innocent, uninvolved neighbors and the firefighters who will be responding to what's left of your house.

Please?
