My dad temporarily fixed his serpentine in his truck with duct tape on a trip from Texas to Colorado until he could get to the next city that he could actually buy one. . . .never underestimate the power of duct tape! He also used it to "fix" mom's wheelchair when they were on one of those mountain trails. Don't ask me how he did it since I was not on those trips, but my dad was an engineer and could practically fix anything. I wish I had more time to learn from him before he passed. Great info!

Good ole duct tape, I got a roll in the 'boot' too. My fathers answer to life was duct tape. "If you can't fix it with duct tape, it dosent need to be fixed!". God only knows how i ever learned to fix anything;).

Already had most of what was in the original post, but there are some additional great ideas in there I didn't think of. I didn't see a change of clothes on that list though, I always keep that.

Some of the nice ones in there: tablecloth, TP! etc.

i actually carry a disposable table cloth when I hike. in a pinch it could become a tent with some paracord. Or if I am alone, that _could_ serve as a poncho too.

TP comes in the form of facial tissues ... but then I'm hiking not preparing for a disaster :/

the little travel packs of kleenex sure do come in handy at times..i keep a pack in the compartment of the drivers door at all times..plus there's a box of kleenex between the seats as well
