"WHISPS" sells Baked Parmesan cheese crisps. I am wondering if this would be a way to preserve cheese if you lost refrigeration.....??? I had never known of this till yesterday.

Hard cheeses will last for months in their unopened original packaging without refrigeration. Keep it refrigerated up until the time you run out of refrigeration for longest life.

Don't try this with soft varieties like cottage cheese or cream cheese however.

Parmesan, specifically, is so dry and hard that it will probably last centuries in the first place (said somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but not totally).
I wasn’t trying to preserve the parmesan, I ran across a recipe for parmesan crisps. I tried it and moved on. I’ve eaten worse but never again.

If you make them yourself, they are good. I wouldn’t trust what’s in them with the store bought. As far as how long they would last. Not long, the oil/fats would go rancid. Better to keep cheese sealed in airtight container in the ground (55*).
