Fast food has a reputation for being junk and really bad food, and most of it probably is. But maybe some of you have done some research, even first hand by eating on the run, for making better choices.

I am curious what you think are better choices for fast food, if you find yourself being thirsty or hungry and need something to tide you over. I end up in this situation about once a week. My go to food is a burrito from Taco Bell, but I know there may be better choices.

Before my daughter was diagnosed with celiac, KFC was her first choice of food to go, always. When we took road trips, that was always what she wanted. She even went through a period of time where we would buy her a bucket of chicken, potatoes, gravy and corn that she would have for a few meals until it was gone. I know that chicken is something that hasn't quite tasted right to me since I stopped eating the chickens my family raised. I really cannot eat it as a leftover, ever, from any source.

Coffee is one thing that I will drive through McDonalds and get, and it is usually a senior coffee, or sometimes, two coffees if I am on a road trip. I do like their breakfast biscuits and breakfast burritos.

My brother in law used to raise beef that was sold to McDonalds. That doesn't mean that me going there and buying a burger means I am getting something that is really good.

I used to eat at subway if in town and I wanted fast food but they have really gone down hill the last few years. This past fall I kept seeing commercials for Arby's greek gryo on flat bread. On the way to one of my eye appointments I decided to try one. Arby's has really stepped up the quality on all their sandwiches.

I still avoid fast food if I can.

I always thought it would be nice if KFC had a grilled chicken sandwich, but I don't even think they have a chicken sandwich on their menu. The only one I have ever seen is the chicken little.....which is more bread than anything. They don't offer much for healthy options. The twister isn't too bad tasting, but I think they may have taken that off the menu too....and I'm sure it wasn't healthy. I really don't know since I haven't been there in a long time as they are owned by the same company as Taco Bell.

I don't think I've been to taco bell since they started airing those creepy illuminati commercials.

McDonalds used to have a decent grilled chicken garden salad, which they took off the menu. But when I go to McDonalds I must have the fries, so I usually get a cheeseburger with it. If I make it a meal, I usually get an iced tea and not a soda. I don't go often, but when I do, I don't typically worry about health.

Burger King also had a good grilled chicken salad, but I'm thinking they don't have that anymore either? I like their chicken sandwiches, but I order them without the mayo.

Arbys also used to have a decent grilled chicken sanwich. I also like their roast beef sandwiches, although I don't know how "healthy" they are. I would think they would be better than some of the deep fried stuff.

We don't have many options where I'm at. I've don't think I've ever see a Chick-fil-a, which I would love to try.

If we know we will be on the road or on vacation, we like to pack our own lunches and snacks. At least that way there will be fruits and veges. If you are only going there once per week, I wouldn't worry too much about it. One bad meal a week shouldn't make much difference in your overall health.

I haven't seen one. If I did, it would probably stop me as well. I will look for one on YouTube.

We always have a cooler and a box of snacks as well when we travel. When we stop for gas, we visit the restroom and sometimes get something else to eat or drink. It may be a cold drink. I do not drink many sodas, but this might be one of the times that I will drink soda, but I might get coffee.

I like chipotle.
I really like Chipotle as well. I wish they had some drive through options. The Chipotle restaurant style is called "fast casual," according to my daughter who has been in the corporate restaurant field for about a decade, off and on. There are a number of restaurants who are set up this way, with food behind glass, and you walk down the line to tell a food preparer what you want on your meal and when you get to the end of the line, you pay and take your food.

Most burger places' food makes me sick, not kidding, but I do fine with In n Out Burgers.
Yep, I often wonder what is added to burgers and other food. In n Out does have really good burgers. I have only had one in my life because I have only seen their restaurants in Tucson. They may be other places I have been, I just didn't see them.

But when I go to McDonalds I must have the fries
Fries are one of the things I began avoiding many years ago trying to keep my weight down. I will have them rarely. There are just a few things my daughter can eat from McDonalds: fries, shakes, soda.

I am not really a fan of the major chain burger places. Been a year or more since I ate at one and I am just not happy with the food. I can do fries, or one of the “pie” dessert things but that is about it from there. I did used to love… Can’t remember if it was Popeye’s or Bojangles. I think it was Popeye’s chicken and Bojangles biscuits. Maybe it was the other way around.

Big fan of Waffle House! Love me a Waffle House. Helpful Tip: You don’t go there for the steak dinner – Check the name of the place.

My choice for a ‘fast food’ on the road option is a sandwich shop. Haven’t been to a subway in a long time, so could not say if they have gone downhill or not. I can usually spot a little ‘deli’ type place on the road. No, not the pre-made sandwiches at 7-11, a regular made to order place. I find most have a good quality, tasty fresh roll option with a variety of veggies and assorted prepared meats to satisfy whatever craving I am having.

Here you go:

SHOCKING!!! NEW ILLUMINATI TACO BELL COMMERCIAL!!! (Truth Hidden in Plain Sight)

TACO BELL CONCENTRATION CAMPS? CREEPY TACO BELL COMMERCIAL

From a poster on youtube:
Here is a taco bell commercial from 2015. The music was different in the original commercial and they did not show the wizard of oz clips, they have been added. But it is strange that taco bell is showing concentration camps with guards and a statue. Then they also show a rapture like setting. I find this very strange that they are showing us concentration camps. The Taco Bell company also has 666 in their logo. Also notice when it flashes the numbers it shows 120. We are at the 120th Jubilee since the beginning of creation. The 120th Jubilee since Adam. God said He would give man 120 years. Maybe it is 120 Jubilee years, 6000 years.

I also saw one fairly recently with people dressed up in costumes and masks with satanic undertones. I can't find it on youtube. I saw that first commercial many times last year. The second one posted.....I don't recall seeing it on TV, at least not the full version. Just plain azz weird!!!

I think they should have just stayed with the Chihuahua. Taking the commercials literally, I would rest easier thinking I was eating dog meat as opposed to whatever satanic crap they might use now. Yeah, I know that's a leap......but I still am not going there! It's not like they can't say we weren't warned. Too bad to, since I actualy liked their tacos and nachos.

I would not be a bit surprised to see another creepy TB ad during the SuperBowl.

I can't help you with "healthier" fast food choices lol
when I eat fast food I'm not looking at healthy. when I'm hungry for it I want the greasy fried food I'm hungry for. odd thing is I don't drink soda so I'm drinking water and I can barely eat a child size french fries. I have to be REALLY hungry to even eat that size. just something about potatoes that I can't eat many of them

Chick-fil-a is my goto place for good food. On the not good for me list, but filling a craving: Sometimes I get the 2 for 6 bucks whoppers from burger king, I can eat for 4 meals on those. I do like some Arby's Beef and Cheddar with a Jamoca shake on occasion too. Once in a while, Taco Bell gets the nod.

Fast food and healthy don't seem to go together.
Taco Bell is my wife's choice but when I read the nutritional chart it made me stop and think.
One of their double crunch taco things is 700 calories, almost half of my daily allowance.
If I have a burger I go to one of the local mom and pop places.
It's rare for us to go in a fast food place tho.
Tonight we are going to a local restaurant that has furniture auctions on Saturdays.
Good food, but a really strange atmosphere. Sitting on the edge of a large warehouse floor filled with furniture isn't what most people expect.
Never been to the auction.
The place is called The Warehouse Restaurant. Catchy huh.

Arby's, i'll get a big sammich and just eat the meat.

Taco bell, their chicken soft tacos are just chicken meat, lettuce, onion, and cheddar cheese. But i get a hankering for their bean burritos sometimes.

Chick Filet, i usually get their cobb salad but not really fast food either. The chicken salad wraps are pretty good to.

Wendy's and subway are about the only two others I'll go to and that's more of a road trip thing, need something to eat, usually a gas station nearby.

Firehouse subs, might be a local thing but they are in lots of locations in the general area.

I have thought that Wendy's is better than others, but I usually get a salad there.

I liked the burger with the lettuce for a bun!
I have ordered burgers without buns for years. Some people think it is crazy.

Wendy's meat is typically pretty good quality. Subway, I have saw multiple reports of them using hormones in their bread that is very harmful. But mostly their food is fairly tasty and can be built as you want.
I know it makes me sound like I must eat fast food everyday. I do not, and not even every week, but it is such a dilemna about what to eat, when I am in need of something quick, which does happen.

I had a friend tell me decades ago (1970's) that after he ate Burger King burgers, he would get physically ill. After a couple times of that, he became a vegetarian. He was a Vietnam vet, so he may have had some Agent Orange affects as well.

One thing is that we really do not know how any of the meat or food was raised and then processed. I know from having family and friends who raise cattle, that the faster they can get cattle to grow and then to market, the better the profit. This is where hormones come to play. I had a cattle rancher tell me that the hormone is a tablet that is dropped into the ear. A grass grown steer takes 3 years to get market ready as opposed to grain fed, hormone treated taking only 2 years.

Hormones in bread? No surprise, but also, all the GMO's and weedkiller that is used in growing grains these days is part of the problem. Hormones in grains are probably a form or part of fertilizer.

Besides how the food is grown, the other big piece is how does it taste? I have found Wendy's to taste better than others, but I have not tried a lot of other fast food places burgers. What else is added to the meat to extend it and what part of the beef are we eating? Are we eating chuck, round, lips, tongue, heart or ears? They all taste different, although I have not knowingly eaten cow lips. I suspect you would find them in hot dogs and sausages.

How big was he growing them to?

I've never heard of a hormone that goes into the ear. I've seen the implants though. We always butchered at 18 months on our grass fed (with a bit of sweet feed).

How big was he growing them to? I have no idea. 18 months is half the age that I was told. It may be that they wanted a certain weight on them. This is South Dakota and if you are in New Mexico, raising cattle may have different needs and standards. I really considered getting into raising cattle with an uncle, but he was very critical of too many things that I did, which needed no criticism from him. He figured it out too late. I wasn't going to be his whipping post.

We used to slaughter a calf at about 1 year old. They were generally close to 1000 lbs. on the hoof.

Years ago I worked at a packing house. I can tell you that no meat is wasted. Baloney and hotdogs were a good portion of mix included with what meat was used and a great deal of fat. Nothing was thrown away. They even sold the blood from the kill floor.

We usually butchered at 800 to 1200lbs. It depended on how the animal was built and if he had filled out.

A lot of places have gluten free foods, like pizza & corn taco.
Almost every pizza chain offers gluten-free but at twice the price or more. Many places add wheat flour to many things to stretch out the more expensive ingredients (like ground meat). McDonnell's adds some wheat to their fries so they brown up a little.

Pizza places do offer gluten free options, but in my daughter's experience, there is often cross contamination.
