Excerpt: "(WATE) - The FDA, CDC along with state and local officials are investigating a multi-state outbreak of cyclosporiasis illness likely linked to salads from McDonald's restaurants.
According to the FDA, 286 people in 15 states, including Tennessee, have become ill. Eleven of the people required hospitalization. Other affected states include Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, South Dakota, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The Tennessee patient purchased salad while traveling in Illinois.
The FDA has yet to identify which of the ingredients used in the salads is the cause for the outbreak. Several different ingredients of the salads are being examined.
According to the FDA, McDonald's has decided to voluntarily stop selling salads at affected restaurants in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, North Dakota, Kentucky, West Virginia and Missouri until they can switch to a different salad supplier.

Anyone who consumed salads from McDonald's in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota or Wisconsin could have been exposed to cyclosporiasis. "

the only takeaway food I eat is good old fish and chips(fries to you).

I did really like fish and chips but most have closed down here in the USA. Darn they were good. I think price hikes got them. If I ever get across the big pond, I am going to fill up on fish and chips, till I can't waddle home.

McDonalds don't generally have healthy food so I avoid it usually. Have to admit that there are times when I crave a cholesterol burger loaded with calories and salt.

you can have it, I haven't touched anything like this for over 30 years, it dosent form any part of my prepping, I eat what I store and I store what I eat, if I don't know whats it in it I don't eat it, and gawd knows where the meat comes from for their burgers.

Never heard of it before. I just don't eat out much, usually too many calories and I save money eating at home. I am so frugal that life gets a little dull at times. I do like the chicken fil-a place though. I got some coupons in the mail today for different places. Just free coupons arriving for no apparent reason but that they are sent to everyone.

1 portion of fish and chips in a good fish and chip shop over here costs about £6.25 or so, but the portion is big enough to feed 2 people. if I try to eat one portion all on my own i'm struggling.

That was about the same price here but the portions were small, barely enough for one. Still miss them.

That's what? About $8.25? The only decent fish and chips I've had in recent years was at Red Robin (arctic cod and homestyle fries), and that runs $14 now (plus tip). Oh sure you can get grease soaked mystery fish and fries at Captain D's (the seafood equivalent of McDonald's) for less than $8, but...

the price I quoted was in an award winning fish and chip shop in a small town 9 miles from where I live, there is a fish and chip shop where I live but frankly it isn't worth eating even if it is under £6 a portion.

I think Long Johns is having some sort of fish and a side all you can eat for 7.99,but I don't know the details. They put a lot of breading on the fish, you can peel it off though. The fish inside is about as thick as a slice of bologna. For some reason when I have eaten there I feel sort of queasy for awhile afterwards. Don't know why but I don't eat out much anyway.

probably depends on what oil they fry the fish and chips in and how long ago it was changed might be the cause of your gippy tummy. we always dry them off first before we eat it.
