Boy Scouts Were they the original prepper group without a religious basis?

What brought this thought up was I've been having thoughts of trying a YouTube channel. Not so much a prepping channel but more of a how to do odd things cheaply and well even in poor health.

Boy Scouts do have a religious basis. Of course, many different religions sponsor Boy Scout troops.

The Boy Scout oath includes, "...to do my duty to GOD and my country..."

The Boy Scout troops I was in taught religious principals, but were not religious groups.

We did a lot of community projects (cleaning up parks, helping the elderly with yard work and chores, helping at food banks and delivering care packages to those who couldn't come to the food bank, graffiti clean up, etc...) as well as all the outdoorsy stuff.
