Burt Reynolds, the charismatic star of such films as Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Smokey and the Bandit who set out to have as much fun as possible on and off the screen — and wildly succeeded — has died. He was 82.

Reynolds, who received an Oscar nomination when he portrayed porn director Jack Horner in Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights (1997) and was the No. 1 box-office attraction for a five-year stretch starting in the late 1970s, died Thursday morning at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida, his manager, Erik Kritzer, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest.

R.I.P. Burt Reynolds.
Great actor and a true legend.
For decades every person in the country knew his name.
Because he was not a Hollywood hiney-kisser, he was not even nominated for a single award for his work in:
Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance, White Lightning, The Cannonball Run, Gator, Malone, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing, and others we all know.
In every one of those movies he carried Hollywood on his shoulders.
For all of his work in movies, he won a total of one (1) Golden Globe Awards.
All Hollywood ever gave him was:Bart:

At least he got to bang Loni Anderson:rolleyes:.

He acted out the Burt Reynolds "screen character" very well, and it was an attractive character. That's all I ask of Hollywood actors/actresses.

My favorite Reynolds movie was "The Longest Yard". RIP. :(
