Fire is a very scary and dangerous situation. So very hard to defend against in an urban environment. Some of the rural folks may have a better option but not sure about that either. What the rural folks gain is cleared space, they loose in response capabilities. Urban folks have more response units but a much more crowded environment. Fire is my one big danger.
 
Only way i see anyone staying safe,while staying put,in a wildefire heading your direction situation.is 1 of 2 things. 1..something in the way of a underground shelter,with no ventilation. And stocked with air tanks.and maybe a electric/solar generator and box/floor fan.or a cave thats deep enough to keep at least 90% of the heat away.and the mouth of it,walled in with the proper rock.then done up like the underground shelter.
