Been meaning to ask you......Is Deanie's Seafood still operating in Metairie? Best dang seafood (after Mike Anderson's in Baton Rouge, that is) I have EVER eaten at. Well, there is one place (now defunct) that used to exist in Yorktown, VA (Nick's Seafood Pavillion) I would place above those two you have there in LA. But only marginally above them. ;)

Gosh, it was probably around 1995-2000? Not sure really, but surely 2-3 hurricanes back, which is what prompted my inquiry. We ate there several times with friends . Their BBQ shrimp, fried seafood platters and étoufée were to die for. We would drive all the way from Galveston just to eat there, seriously. Or perhaps I should say my husband went for his tabletop wargame convenetions and I went to enjoy Deanie's. Of course, we would take in a little more of New Orleans and the Quarter each trip, too.....both liquid and food. ;)

Well I can tell you great places for seafood. I used to live a few blocks away from Deanies, been going there since it was just a fresh seafood market, before the restaurant.

I also use to play table top war games at the conventions. I bet I know your husband.

You just might. He drove over with 2-3 buddies in Texas for the conventions in Nawlin's for years. First name Lance. World History teacher. I lovingly like to say he kinda reminds people of Capt. Kangaroo but with totally straight hair, not curly/wavy at all. LOL People who meet him tend to remember him.......and that convivial personality he has.

Yes, I remember Lance. Good man, I'm a history buff.

I didn't realize you, too, were in that part of Louisiana. Not sure when we'll get down that way again, especially with what is going on right now, that could preclude travel if the take-down gets stymied before completed successfully. But I have had a hankering for some good cajun food of late. :)

I'm on the north shore now.

I'm in Metairie myself. Rellgar is on the north shore. I'm a lot closer to the action in New Orleans. If you do make it here please look my up.
