1) With our government agreeing to everything China wants even to the point of disregarding the Arbitral Tribunal on the ownership of islands in the West Philippine Sea;
2) Chinese companies have been coming into the Philippines and bringing in a lot of Chinese "workers". Some have admitted that they are actually Chinese PLA.
3) Even the shoals on the Eastern side of our country being claimed by China.
4) Militarization by China of all the islands

Plus their threats to any country that tries to pass those islands even threatening to intercept and shoot down US Aircraft.

Add to this the buying out of portions of countries who have defaulted on massive loans given by China. Just recently, China purchased the Hanjin shipbuilding yard in the Subic International Port (Note: Subic was a former US Military base) with a target based on talks, to take over the whole of Subic.

That's the big china con, they grant loans based on collateral writing it in a way that makes it impossible to pay back, it's happening in Africa, one country has defaulted and it may have cost them it's sovereignty. Overlord, if that's the case you may want to start thinking of relocating.

In the Philippines, the Duterte administration seems to be impervious to concerns raised about China’s “hidden agenda” in extending massive loans to poor countries. The program, some analysts have said, is tantamount to a new form of colonization of vulnerable nations by Beijing.

During President Duterte’s first visit to China in October 2016, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to provide funding for 30 projects in the Philippines worth billions of dollars.

China has earmarked P4.37 billion for the Chico River Dam Project, the groundbreaking of which was held last June 8. The project, funded by the China Exim Bank, is implemented by China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd. Beijing has also pledged to fund two Philippine railway projects with a combined cost of $8.3 billion, and 30 smaller projects valued at $3.7 billion.

According to Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, agreements on several

China-funded projects would be signed during the scheduled visit of President Xi to Manila in December.

Some lawmakers have already expressed alarm over the use of the country’s natural resources as collateral for loans from China.

“Protection and preservation of national interest compels us to reject the Chinese concept of using natural resources as loan collateral,” said Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon. “It’s obvious that this is their mode of territorial expansion.”

Stupid countries get what they deserve. i do wonder what is going to happen when the locals start getting tired of the Chinese people in their countries. I can see a bunch of murders happening and then what will china do?

Do you think they could have a hold on the U.S. one day? Seems like they loan us a lot of money. What happens when they want it back and can't pay? The other odd thing is, I hear all the time how China is broke. I don't understand, which is it? Are they buying everyone out, or are they too broke to do so?

No, they haven't loaned us money per say

That's why I say per say. Not the same as debt-trap diplomacy

In a nutshell
I know Doc knows this but for those that don't understand Treasury Securities and debt, a very short fyi
3.9 trillion in Treasury bills are sold to foreign governments, as of 2017 China suddenly reduce their liquid U.S. financial assets significantly owning as of 2018 1.14trillion out of the 3.9trillion the Feds allowed to be sold, 78% (22trillion) of the debt is owned by US entities with Social Security Trust Fund owning most of it. Thinking china could start taking US assets would be a little ridicules to say the least. China has already sold back a trillion. China would sell back the treasury bonds in large number to keep the dollar high against the Yuan, that's the only leverage china has with owning US debt, almost a legal form of currency manipulation.

Old Japanese saying "Business is War". China is figuring this out too. I expect to see more China tariffs as the American manufacturing returns and ramps up. once America gets up to speed, then the price can become competitive. Can't close off the trade until you can produce the product.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, we do have a stupid government now. The campaign of Duterte was funded by Chinese businesses. Would you believe that he is agreeable to joint exploration of Benham Shoal which the UN awarded to us recently.

I have read of the agenda of China with respect to loans and defaulting and their strategy is to come in through controlling the economy.

Recently Hanjin (ship builders) closed and now the goverment is favoring China to take over despite other countries and businesses offereing to take over.

Another is the recent awarding of the "common" towers for all telecom companies to mount their equipment to China. They, if I remember correctly, are offering it for free! Makes you wonder.

There are so many illegal Chinese workers here and some of them have admitted (or look like) to be China PLA.

Yet our government is saying that it will benefit us more if we just be friends with China and not deal with the West. What a load of crap!

I heard Australia was already penetrated by China because of some politician too.
