So...Wal Mart (ugh) has not been stocking healthful coffee creamers for awhile, and has actually stopped stocking some of the other healthy products I use. Not sure what's the deal...

I have enjoyed simple coffee creamer that uses just milk and sugar for years...no longer available...and I'm not sure how I can make something similar that is heavy enough and sweet enough. I keep getting thin creamer that doesn't really please the palate.

Do I need to just start milking cows and skimming the cream?

Yes you do. Ha.
I did freeze dry raw milk, it took a number of days, but finally got a good powder. I would look up freeze dried cream powder and order that. If you have a Trader Joes in your area, they have small cartons of heavy cream they sell that is shelf stable, not needing refrigeration.

Organic half and half which only has two ingredients: milk and cream. And some organic honey or agave nectar.

I used that for many years, but in recent years I've been making the coffee much stronger, near espresso strength, and using half coffee/half organic milk (what they call Café au lait down in New Orleans). Publix Greenwise brand and Horizon brand (which my daughter calls "Happy Cow Milk") are the two organic brands that taste the best. Many organic brands taste like instant milk to me. The milk itself has enough sugar for me that I don't need the honey anymore.

A little aside...
After my heart attack a few years ago, I switched to oat milk to cut down on cholesterol. I kept using that for a good while until I read that whole milk does NOT raise your cholesterol. And I also started to become aware of the dangers of seed oils and the oat milk used canola oil. So I did a little test. I switched to whole milk for a while before my next lab work. The next time I had lab work, my cholesterol was the lowest it had EVER BEEN.

Drink your coffee black. Don't use any cream or cream substitute or sugar.
Those are written in the "imperative mode".
Imperative:

noun

  1. A rule, principle, or need that requires or compels certain action.
  2. A command; an order.
When I started drinking coffee, the Mr. Coffee had not been invented yet. The only ways anyone I knew made coffee was with a percolator and cowboy coffee. I've made coffee with about every method known to man. And have drunk coffee every way imaginable on four continents. From Turkish coffee to Frappachino. So I don't appreciate being lectured on how I should drink coffee.

If that was my only option, I wouldn’t be drinking coffee anymore. Coffee is acidic and cream helps to cut that.

I started drinking coffee when I was six. It was the thing to drink in my grandparents house. My coffee had more milk than coffee and it had some sugar. Like many people, that has changed over the years. I switched to powdered creamer because I could keep it in a cabinet at work. After years of that, I switched to half and half. When I was doing more of a keto diet, I switched to cream. That is what I use now. I do have powdered cream, but like powdered milk, there is an odd taste to it. I wonder if people just learn to get used to it?

For me, black coffee is like scotch. I don't like either. I know I could learn to, but why bother? If I were forced to only have black coffee, I might reevaluate my options. Most likely I would switch to tea, but you never know - I might give black coffee a second look. But my first thought is "What is the goal of learning to like something that you don't like?"

Much appreciated, DrHenley. It seems to be becoming difficult to buy healthy stuff around here...I think they want everyone fat and grain fed here in the Ozarks.

Ah, I did throughout my military career...to include time in South Florida. That'll tear a stomach right on up!

GOOD coffees are OK black. The cheap stuff, not so much.

i like to buy eagle brand sweet condensed milk. hormone free, no chems and real sugar used. i put in a quart jar and add water and stir real good, put lid on and put in fridge. . it lasts me over a week for average of 3 cups coffee each day. it probably can be watered down a bit more to extend it but its pretty good.

i have made my own powder dry milk, dry mct powfdr with stevia--i use that sometimes too. but i think the eagle is better

At this point in life, I drink as much coffee as I want.. At home I use an instant mix to include powdered creamer, powdered milk, splenda or equal sweetener, and instant coffee..

Walmart has a ...fat free.. half and half, red carton.
Regular half and half is blue or purple carton..

I also drink a good bit of tea.... One thing that has tasted good this winter has been fruity berry teas with equal and powdered creamer.. I got a variety box of Celestial Seasonings teas.. Things like raspberry, blueberry, black cherry berry, lemon zinger, and a couple other flavors.. I mixed all the unlabeled bags together so you don't know what one you are getting until you taste it.. Kinda fun and good..

I drink my coffee black, always have for the most part. But, I can still appreciate a good and healthy creamer. It's been said to make coffee easier on the stomach. For the additional taste, making it a little smoother and sweeter? Sure... it definitely works for that.

To each their own, and some dairy products are a good thing.

Then offer your own suggestion and allow others to offer theirs!!
That was before I had my coffee...;)

Levi and little granddaughter came in from school and headed to the coffee pot, made half a pot of Folgers....I do believe they used about 5 sugar cubes each, and some organic Horizons milk dumped into it...then off to play the electric guitar.
Tell them to ditch the sugar and play acoustic guitar. :p
