Holidays ate me — just a lot of little projects that needed to be done before Christmas, with travel both for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Then we had a friend visiting for a week and a half, post-New Year.

After friend left, we got the master bath mostly remodeled. We’re waiting on them fixing a cabinet and replacing the tub, which got a hairline crack when I stood on it. Luckily warranty should do the trick for that.

During that time, all three of my sewing machines had problems. I got the first of them back from the shop yesterday and dropped the second one off.

Husband’s been dealing with blood sugar issues and health issues with his parents, so that’s been a bit of a thing as well.

I’m trying to squeeze time to make more miniatures, a different friend and I are planning to sell at the Denver miniatures show this year. Also studying Japanese — I hit a milestone birthday last year and requested a trip to Japan, which is slotted for April. I’m super excited about that.

How’s things been here?
Many great new members!! Seems like the cold weather everywhere and politics have been major discussions!! Sounds like you are keeping busy, always check in when you can! You get into some really neat things! The miniatures show sounds interesting! And WOW, studying Japanese!

Was here on Saturday! Posts in the dinner thread and much of January. Use the little magnifying "Search", type in name and go. Posts the person has made will appear on the page. :callyou::huggs:
Yup I’m around! Just have a mess of things going on and run flat out of energy and bandwidth by the end of the day.

Glad all is well!! @RJ2019 is an awesome gal, glad she has joined us!! You have a lot of catching up to do @SoJer !!

Why do you say that?
because what I say about the UK situation dosent seem to have any bearing on the majority US members, like I say the two concepts of prepping are so different. we dont have homesteads here, we have homes, even those of us who are rural dont have acres and acres, and there is no wilderness in the UK all land is owned by someone even the moorlands.

my brother lives in France and works in Germany and he pretty muich told me the same thing. You can't even put up solar panels over there unless they are hooked into the grid and inspected by the government and put up by licensed people
ours are in the front yard, and we live in the national forest

So without land, how do you prep? This might be helpful to house and small yard preppers. Not everyone on here has land, and I would bet some have apartments with just a balcony. What concepts are most important to you?

I understand what @lonewolf is saying. Its different in this part of the world. However I love seeing what you guys do, and adapting where I can.
There is less 'remotelessness' here and in the UK (not a real word, but you get me). Maybe we should have a dedicated thread to 'small time homesteading/prepping'.

we can still prep in the UK and not just for small times, we can prep for TEOTWAWKI but we keep it simple, back to the pre industrial lifestyle everything done by hand, some will have solar panels some will not, I do have them but like has been said they are tied into the national grid-most homes dont have room for stacks of batteries, but we still get free electric at least when the sun is shining.
knowing how to grow food is an advantage over the masses who dont have a clue and rely on the supermarkets, I have been growing my own food most of my adult life and have lived off grid in the past and will again.
