Today we went to Essenita Clinic in Duluth, a place that usually provides excellent health care. During the check-in process, they asked us to sign the consent to treat and consent to release forms and pointed us to the electronic signature thingy. I asked "can't we read what we are signing first?". They immediately pretended to look everywhere, barely opening drawers etc, before giving up to vaguely read what they felt important from their screen (with great pauses between points). They then told us that the desk on the first floor should have them. This was happening at a desk that had at least 5 laser printers within 15 feet from the receptionist. Had I not recently read online about hospitals sneaking in the ability to "quietly" vaccinate within the consent to treat form, we would have signed and been on our way. But now, I really wonder what is going on. We went home with nothing to read. What really saddens me was the vast number of people going in and out of that huge place who apparently don't give a **** about what they sign. Be careful!
