Early Cuneiform was simple pictograms, less abstract than later Cuneiform. These pictograms were not unlike cave paintings, so no reason to believe they were extraterrestrial in origin. In fact, Cuneiform evolved over centuries and we have documentation of that evolution.

Emerging in Sumer in the late fourth millennium BC (the Uruk IV period) to convey the Sumerian language, which was a language isolate, cuneiform writing began as a system of pictograms, stemming from an earlier system of shaped tokens used for accounting. In the third millennium, the pictorial representations became simplified and more abstract as the number of characters in use grew smaller (Hittite cuneiform). The system consists of a combination of logophonetic, consonantal alphabetic, and syllabic signs.

Proto-Cuneiform used less abstract pictograms than Cuneiform. Cuneiform is so named because it was pressed into clay tablets with blunted reeds, (cone shaped marks) giving it the unique "alien like" appearance. Proto-Cuneiform was simply carved into stone or clay tablets with whatever sharp object was available.

Surely intelligent alien life forms from integalltic neighbourhoods would not need to write in clay, they would use alien I pads or other electronic digial media.

Hieroglyphics are no different from modern time. Different region of language are going to illustrate the language in different ways of the times they are in, doesn't mean an intergalactic traveler written it. It becomes alien to us when we don't understand the illustration

Take the Hobo hieroglyphics but different from region to region like East Coast West Coast gangs have different graffiti, same for Hobos, It's human nature for us to illustrate in drawing and writings.
