I am sure there are NRA members here and I am sure there are 2A supporters here also so this should be of some interest. It is really hard to think about SHTF type prepping without firearms. The rumor mill is that the NRA will or has filed bankruptcy in New York and will reorganize in Texas. The rumor is also that the current President of the NRA will be replaced when this happens. If so, at least two questions arise: First, should we current members even be paying dues to a bankrupt organization? That seems a little like throwing good money after bad. Secondly, who would you like to see running the new NRA? One name name mentioned is Col Allen West. What do you think?

I’m Lifetime NRA so my dues are already paid for eternity. I’d like to see Ted Nugent as NRA President.

Some gun clubs and NRA sponsored competitions require NRA membership.

I took advantage of a deeply discounted lifetime membership they were offerering a number of years ago and haven't sent them any money since because I am not happy about how they have been doing things.

I've been an NRA member for over 30 years. I send them extra money whenever I can. Years ago I got a signed certificate from Charlton Heston for a sizable contribution that I made.
No, I dont like everything about the NRA either. But they do a lot of good things related to gun rights. I'll continue my support to the NRA indefinitely.

The problem today is that many are only concerned about the money and no longer about the meaning of the matter, many only want to enrich themselves.
I say for a long time, the whole system is corrupted today, be it financially or through untruths, all this we once a high price entail, and much trust is so abused, unfortunately...

I had a relative who worked for The American Red Cross. It’s a good natured organization, but it had tremendous waste in materials and funds.

I first joined the NRA in the 70's. I was annoyed by their constant requests for more money. I was alarmed when I found out how much some of their people made. There, there I was told. They are the best/only group that was working to protect our rights and the second amendment. Is this true? Should I spend my money elsewhere?

I want to know about this too. Tom Gresham talks about another group who uses the money for litigation. Anyone know that group?

I would expect any organization that works to protect something as important as our gun rights to hire the best qualified people they can get. And that's going mean high salaries and good benefits. I have no problem with what the NRA is paying their top executives.

I don't have a problem with salaries or that the work is paid, but the problem with high salaries is that it attracts people who don't put their heart and soul into it. In an NRA you need people who can stand up for their and their members' cause and for whom the salary is not the top priority.
What good is a corrupt and insolvent NRA at this time? NOTHING!

Longtime members will be disappointed and scared away, and the only ones who will benefit are Sleeping Jo, Kamala and all those who want to disarm you.

I'll continue supporting the NRA in spite of their alleged problems. Personally I like GOA (Gun Owners of America) better. The problem is that most people who own guns don't care enough about their Rights to put their money where their mouth is. Many people just squabble about insignificant problems with an organization, like the NRA, and then do nothing. I'd rather do something even if I don't agree with them 100% than do nothing.
