I pm'd gazrock on this earlier as he is close by. 200million gallons disappearing down in a hole in the ground. But everything is fine. I don't trust much from the govt agencies that are here to protect us anymore.

it's only slightly radioactive...
and only slightly loaded with phosphates and toxins and only slightly lethal :) Just like its only slightly explosive and flammable water coming out of the taps and faucets in parts of the US where they have been fracking :).

The trouble is if kids start being born in FLA and Georgia with two heads and thirteen toes the locals wont notice anything abnormal :) :) :) SE now hiding behind sofa before Gazrok logs on :)

So far, so good here still. This is basically one county over. The worst part is them knowing (the government), but not telling us till now. The company actually did all of their due diligence. One of my friends actually works for them, so I've tapped him quite a bit.

They (government, company, and environmental groups) are actively testing all of the water near there daily.

Here's where I'm at (small yellow at top left of image). Bigger circle at bottom right is where the facility is with the leak. A pretty decent distance, but still close enough to where we're monitoring this constantly.

I know, I know, OPSEC and all that, but if someone remembers these posts (and can access the info, and get here) Post SHTF, then I want that resourceful dude to join us.

.

And that my friend is where my blood ran cold. I would only trust my own tests, you can get superb water testing kits from Aquarists shops that check for just about everything, nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, phosphates, etc.

We had an incident in Devon some years ago where a tanker load of Aluminium sulphate got dumped into the wrong tank. the water company and govt said no harm would come from it until there was a huge surge in people getting sick with pre senile dementia which was traced back to the aluminium. DONT TRUST THEM.

Oh, we are definitely also testing ourselves. But, seems I need to add a geiger counter to the process now.

We routinely test it anyhow, every few months, but now we're doing it weekly, each weekend.

As I said my friend, bottled water....

how many of us here keep some good old H2O in stock, think that great many do,this proves you never know..you never know

While we do have this as an emergency backup, we also do water catchment, and just barrel storage. Thing is though, with horses, bottled water not really an option. (too pricey). I do plan on adding an emergency barrel out in the stable, when money permits. At nearly $100 a pop for a barrel, just other priorities at the moment.

Rainwater catchment then filtered for human consumption is probably one of the best options if you have the roof space and rainfall. Even here in the wet UK much ground water and spring water records phosphates, nitrates, herbicides, pesticides and even hormones.

Most of the catchment water is eventually to be more for garden and washing vs. drinking...just nice to have the option though.

Typically the same here. We only used to test about every 4 months, when we empty and refill the storage barrels. But, with this recent development, I test every weekend, same as when I test pool water.

Have you looked into what kind of filtration it takes to clean out the stuff they leaked?

Not really. Not sure even how one would go about making it non-radioactive.
Worth checking into. So far though, their claims of it being contained are holding up to testing results by others (including the green ones)...

Okay- so if I was to go onto Amazon and want to buy a water filtration device/straw, what am I looking for? We have 5 people in our family. Our water is a 50 gph well on top of a mountain.

A Big Berky four candle unit plus spare ceramic candles, or a British Berkfield. Either one is good and ALL of your drinking cooking water should go through one.

I like the Berkey's filter and currently been stocking up on the black filters, https://www.amazon.com/Berkey-Repla...74454959&sr=8-8&keywords=berkey+black+filters

The Big Berkey, https://www.amazon.com/Berkey-Count...74454959&sr=8-9&keywords=berkey+black+filters

On the Berkey be sure to get replacement spigot's, I use these, https://www.amazon.com/Boroux-Stain...0_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=B1EJV4RVV884B5GHS0RP

The Maintenance kit is a must, https://www.amazon.com/Berkey-Stain..._10?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=B1EJV4RVV884B5GHS0RP

One can also make there own water filter with berkey black or ceramic filters using two food grade 5-gal buckets, instructions all over the youtube.
