I have shot IDPA, but have gotten out of practice the last few years. I had to cut back during Obama because of primer and bullet shortages and never really got back in the swing of things.
Technically it's not "training" but is definitely one of the best types of practice there is. You will learn things about your gun in ways that aren't possible in normal range sessions. IDPA combined with formal training will allow you develop a level of competence that far exceeds what LEOs achieve.
For those that don't know about IDPA, it is the International Defense Pistol Association. IDPA matches are for defensive pistols and the fancy "race guns" of other "run and gun" disciplines aren't allowed. No hi-cap mags allowed. The idea is to compete with what you carry, although that doesn't always hold true. You must use cover if possible, and if you stop in the open and shoot flatfooted, you'll get a penalty. You have to shoot targets in "tactical order" - in other words you can't expose yourself to one non-neutralized target while shooting at another (with some exceptions). Weather permitting, you have to draw from concealment. (too hot in summer to wear concealment garments). Military and LEOs are allowed to use duty rigs. Stages are supposed to mimic real world scenarios.

I think Texas might have been a bit too quick to judge. We do get spammers on here pretty often and it gets old.
I do similar training with pistol , rifle / carbine , shotgun but didn't know it was called that .
I've never tried IDPA. I shoot long-range.
Very possible, time will tell. We do get tons of spam...

Also, I agree with TexasFreedom initial response. A "New Member" who's initial response seems to be advertising a specific item, is very suspect. After looking closed did I realize you were recommending an "action" and not a specific "product".

I'm my opinion any person male or female could benefit in IDPA, it will help you in handling a hand gun, the day the would goes crazy due to whatever is not the time to get proficient.
Just my opinion, get good before not during.
So just wondering do you shoot first and say hey latter?

Nah, we take the time to get a good sight picture, dial in the elevation, wind-age and then pull the trigger.

I believe in practice, just not with a group or association.
I live in a rual area here and if I have a day off and time I'll start shooting then Someone around the cove will start shooting then another down the road will start . Kind of like stereo .
Occasionally I will have Family and Friends over and We will grill and shoot all day then it sounds like a war zone .

I'm glad I don't have neighbors like that. I like my peace and quiet too much. It's rare to ever hear a gun shot around here. Even if my neighbors did any shooting they're too far away to hear anyway. Just the way I like it.
Sounds like fun to me.
It used to be very quiet around me. One neighbor moved in recently, and maybe once a month on a Saturday night will fire off 1,000+ rounds. He has a decent backstop of old RR ties, but it's not 20ft from his house! He usually shoots from within 10-15 yards. It's an accident waiting to happen, but it'll be his problem. At least it's not aimed my direction.

Yep, and that is the reason that people are trying to make gun ownership illegal and start confiscating them (just will not be called confiscation, it will be called buyback or whatever the favorite word of the day is.)
Buyback = $50.00 for your $1500+ rifle if your lucky.

If they want to buy mine back, they'll have to find it at the bottom of the lake where I had that boating accident.
I've said before that it is wise to have more/better weapons & ammo than your local sheriff's office. This is why.
