In a cabin, on a mountain, in "Wilderness" Alaska.
Hard to figure how they can send such a massive amount of useless crap.

AARP, when you sign up, claims you support all their objectives and counts you in their millions of supporters for whatever leftist, or otherwise, political fights.
If you want to join their may be benefits, but know you give them permission to claim you as a supporter of their causes or political candidates whether you support that line of thinking or not. I saw the mention above that they have a great medicare supplement plan, but I doubt they actually run that plan so odds are (I am guessing here so sorry if I am wrong) you can get a very similar plan from the same "big daddy" insurance provider if you look in the right places. I would suspect the big daddy company offers very similar plans to many other large groups.

My experience also is that AARP is 99.99% wasted time, paper and such..
However.. I do have to admit I did learn about the senior drivers test program they advertise.. It seems that in states that recognize the program you can save a percentage off auto insurance.. But most of the states that recognize the program offer the program cheaper than AARP advertises it for.. It was a bit time consuming to do, but I did save me either 10 or 15% on insurance.. I'm good with that..

...And even dying won't get you off of their member list.
Both of my in-laws that have been deceased for over 2 years, still get a magazine.

They do have a use though...
My never-ending supply of 'on the potty' new reading material:

That keeps them VOTING!!

I won't deal with them, they give to the lefties, support the dems. Husband likes them, though, but he's a kind of center type of guy.
Yes, they support politicians that will funnel the most taxpayer $$$ to older people. It's expected.
...And probably the reason I should be a lib. :(
But when the libs go anti-gun, I have to jump ship.

They do free tax returns for any age every year. It is a big deal in my community for those who don't know how to do it.
If you’re not paying for a service then you are the product. The last thing I’d ever do is to exchange all the info on my tax return for filling out the return for free. They’re not working for you for free, someone is paying them.

AARP didn't get a dime from me . Reason being they supported " Obama Care " . Sold old folks into the quagmire . I never intend to join an organization that would do something like that . It makes me wonder to whom and how much money passed under the table .
I was a member right up to them supporting Obama Care. Glad that I hadn't become a lifetime member because after that I never rejoined. To me it's kind of simple. Had they taken a vote from members or even asked my thoughts on the subject, that would have been something. But having a faceless group of people making judgements & using my name to support them just torqued me off.
