This has become my favorite place, because of the primary subject content and the general social/real-life threads and posts, and of course the membership base including management.

I'm curious how this 'merger' will work. Is like Doomsday Prepper Forum is closing and everything here will stay the same software and management wise... we'll just inherit their members???? @Swing / @havasu ?

Their threads will be incorporated?

A lot of us migrated here from prepared society when things changed there, It should be interesting
 
We get lots of newbies here. Those that are a fit stay. All in all we have done well by being welcoming to our new family. I’m sure that many are already friends with current members. I trust our fearless leaders not to invite a bunch of jerks home. This should make us stronger.

Probably a majority of us are from 'somewhere else'.
I too am an 'immigrant' from the "Talk Firearms" forum when it was moved here.
...So is Fido and Haertig.
This forum is 'self-cleaning', ones that don't fit in, wander off, and the ones that can't follow rules or constantly anger others, get the boot.

I'm glad that this has become a favorite for you. In all honesty, this has been my second home, with DDF being my first.
 
Hmm - so the post over there is operational. And as far as I can, we should have their content and possibly some forums or bring the forum here and merge into one forum. The rules here will apply. But willing to work with the transfers to make this a good place for them, too.

@Dani, do you have the same name on Doomsday as you do here, or a different name?

Just give it a week or two for the new ones to settle in and for me and havasu to weave the content and members in the best we can.

I agree with the self-cleaning aspect of this site. I'm not worried.
 
I'm on Doomsday a bit, not often, here is my number one spot. The ladies that post over on doomers are awesome, they'll fit right in. Hoping they'll try us out. And there's a few european guys that add another perspective I've enjoyed reading.
Dani, Dr Headley, Mt Trapper.... and they're all good.

I'm surprised you're not familiar enough with the site know. I mean for that site to be planned for incorporation here.... I'd think you know it from top to bottom.

ETA: Took me about 5 minutes to recognize her there.... same avatar and variation of name.......

I've been a member on that site for a couple years. I don't go there very often, but I have seen Dani there.

I have received several requests from them to pay dues. I pay dues here, and if I was more active there, I would pay there. I just am not active there. I do like some of the topics I've seen discussed there and will be glad to see them here.
 
I just tried to find that forum. Does someone have a direct link....??? I wanted to see if I am a member there. I doubt it, but maybe.
 
I just visited Doomsday Preppers for a few minutes. I realize that there will be an adjustment for a couple people from over there. Some won't last long here, at least one, I think. Some of the topics are the kind of topics we haven't really had here. Be ready for some hackles to be raised from us and them, but we can get through it!

But overall, I would really like to welcome everyone from over there to Homesteading Forum.

I am a mod there. I have been a member here for two years, but not very active here.
Believe me, they are as trepidatious about the move as you are.
It is a VERY eclectic and international bunch over there. Lots of different opinions about things, spirited discussions. But we go home friends at night.

Change can be hard, but it can also be good for people. There may be loss on both sides of this, but the dynamics of some of the people from Doomsday will certainly add some spirit here. Heck, we lose people for no apparent reason here. There are many people here who are old friends now. Some of us have met each other. I'm looking forward to seeing the merge.
