Lot of steps in those instructions, I grab a leaf and stem, roll it in my palms till the natural oils/moisture starts secreting and place it in my armpit for one hour, the armpit is one of the most sensitive on the body, you will find out real quick. after an hour I will grab another leaf and chew a few and hold for an half hour, if no numbness, heavy saliva or dry mouth I swallow and wait for a few hours.

AS a last resort you could experiment. My plan is not to get to that point. I want to know what I can eat and not eat before needing to rely on wild plants for food. I do eat them now but don't have to rely on them at this point. There is so much cattail around here I don't think I'd go hungry at any time of the year. I have been wanting to try staghorn sumac drink but haven't yet, checked out the wild elderberries, they aren't ready to harvest. I am going to investigate a pawpaw tree this weekend.
