Wife in the US, we spent ages sourcing some hiking shoes she adores and EDCs and uses for work (Merrill Mocs) only available in black or brown and in one width fitting in UK.

Found some in San Francisco CA at a shopping mall open 8 til 8 that offer various widths and multiple colours and patterns. We duly make arrangements for her to slightly vary her itinerary whilst over there to go and get a few pairs. She and her mates arrive at the 8 til 8 Mall at 5.05PM and the shop shut at FIVE, the only shop in the mall that does so!!!!! She aint a happy bunny so I'm now trying to find some in las Vegas cos she is headed there now.

6000 miles to get footwear and the shop was shut for the day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only in my family.

I have normal aches and pains from being 52. I found a shoe called sketcher shape ups. They were amazing, super soft, high arch, extra wide widths. Sure as **** they quit making them! They started making them finally, but they are different now and not as good. So yes, I understand how going great distances for your feet is worth it!

Feet are a problem in our family, wife is on her feet all day so needs really good footwear, son has slight disability with his feet a combination of fallen arches and his foot cants over badly. FIVE long bastard miserable years of NHS foot care and he is no better. ONE visit to private foot specialist in Durham £250 later and sons feet dont hurt for the first time thanks to really high tech custom made footbed insoles.

Son uses Sketchers some times but at the mo he is hooked on Timberland.
