We always have emergency supplies in our van. And not much snow here but it can get very hot and even cold considering.

I am going to second that.

This type of thing used to be far more common, but in the last decade or two with cellular communications and other technological advancements things like this have all but gone away. That is unless the most important prep (common sense) was not part of their survival plan.

I was thinking the same thing ,something strange about her laying on her back too. I've camped out in cold before and you want as little body and ground contact as possible.

My guess is they were found where they fell.
There are stories like this every year and people still don't learn.
