Hi folks, I am new to the forum, and was wondering what people were doing to prepare for a major power outage. It would be nice if you could make your own power don't you think? I have been working on that problem for about 20 years now, and I am willing to share what I have learned. I found a way to charge small batteries ( AA-AAA_ 9V) very quickly using a different design hand crank altenator that I made. If someone could tell me how to upload a picture, I can show you what it looks like.

Very cool on the build! but couldn't you use a bicycle by cutting the bike frame down and using the sprockets already in place?
here are the pictures of the rotors, as you can see there are 3 copper coils for generating an AC current and 12 neodiyum magnets on two opposing rotors.
The gears on a bicycle work good with a chain, but not so good to mesh together. I also have a larger alternator that's hooked up to my bycycle

I have been looking at solar powered generators for a long time. The Kodiak (now Apex) looked great until I heard about the Titan. It's the best system available, and priced accordingly. The presale started Aug 15th. I know it;s my first post and this sounds like Spam, but it's not. They just added rigid panels, but the flex ones are less than half the weight and easier to transport. I did a search for it and didn't see anything here which really surprised me. If you are thinking about a portable solar generator, check it out! When the juice goes out, your gas will only last so long.
