So I get to work today and someone had pulled a Ryder truck up on the sidewalk and against the building . Two Police cars were checking it out . Some of Our younger Employees were nearby and I said Y'all see the box truck parked against the building ? They said yes . One of them said I guess they didn't want to walk far . I said yes or they are terrorists and going to blow up the building . They looked surprised and confused and started asking How do you blow up a building with a truck ? I asked what do they teach in History class these days . Then I said yes the driver maybe didn't want to walk across the parking lot or the truck is a fertilizer bomb VB IED and left them thinking about it .

The youngins are so caught up in staying cool and playing with their electronics, that they have no time to learn what our parents had to go through to make our lives that what they are today. All is soft and easy, take a credit and buy a new car, TV, mobile or house. BUILD you own or make something with your own hands is so much from old fashioned...without a new world war, this generation of working class will die out and leave a huge gaping vacume that few could fill.

blacksmiths, cobblers, farriers are low on the ground, even trying to get an electrician or a plumber is difficult most of the time.
nobody wants to get their hands dirty any more.
wife's grandson could have gone into the R.A.F. and learned a trade, he didn't so where is he working? Costa Coffee that's where.

I’ve run ads for help and gotten no response at all, and the few that do are un hirable. The low quality of youth that I talk to about a job now is really bad. when I was self employed I generally worked alone, if I needed help to speed up the work I only employed friends I trusted.

Sad but true. A report on the radio today. A Syrian refugee has been in Germany for 2 years, learned the language, got a job as a baker, learned and took the tests required by law here. Is paying taxes and living on his own without any State help. The gov't has decided that he comes from a non-violent and not dangerous area of Syria and deported him OVERNIGHT! The drug dealers, rapists, petty thieves and others can stay here since they have protection from the laws still in their refugee status. He was working and paying taxes, which took away his protected status. WTF. Stupid fu****g laws. GP

they are far and few inbetween Brent..latest survey they had here about how many nurses etc we have here and how many we need,there was a gap of 11000,there was previous an aptitude test,they skipped it,to make it easier for kids to apply,but the material that came were appauling; they don't speak the lingo nor write it,they don't understand the patient or the colleague your supposed to work with,many had a drug habbit,so that wen't to *****,but is it told like the truth is? nope,it's told in a variuos burocratic ways and burocratic lingo...

This is one problem I have noticed when hiring people. There are plenty of "applicants" but most of them aren't qualified. It's not about picking between a list of people who could do the job, maybe one could do it "best." It's that there are so many people out there who are "unemployable" in any but the most basic jobs because they were not taught the necessary skills or taught to develop the needed character traits. Lowering standards will only serve to get people hurt or killed, it will not reduce the shortage of qualified workers.

Kate,couldn't agree more, have been doing work with a nurse,still today I keep wondering how that person got through school,got the degree and how on earth was let through the tests at the hospital you need to do,to be able to administer meds...the only reason I can think of is ; affirmative action,something they don't speak of,don't wanna admit there is,he's an ok person but as a nurse shyt..

Without the "weighting" given minorities there would be practically NO minorities pass the bar, civil service exams, medical licensing tests, etc. Their "free points" give them a big jump over everyone else. How would you like being treated by a doctor who passed his licensing exams by virtue of "free points," and would have failed under any nonweighted testing?

You are right there VJ. On the other side, how many people have been messed up by some self-proclaimed-legend of a "doctor"? In Germany, we have a statistic of 14,000 dead in hospitals yearly. The difference here is, you sign a paper which says the doctor explained which things could go wrong. Meaning if it does, he is not responsible. If you do not sign this, NO OP. period. Very few doctors here are willing to give witness against a fellow doctor. I have recognised a few quacks in my time and have released myself, on my on cognition, from the hospital. Never went back. When the treatment to find the problem causes more pain than the problem, who needs a "doctor"? GP
