Finland, beautiful countryside

I'm sure that's a resort, but still! I'm from the Midwest US, and I haven't seen snow like that in ages.

I WISH it would dump some of that stuff on me, man I would be out camping and snow shoeing. Its always nice because everyone else stays inside, feels like the world gets bigger.

and we are waiting for the arctic cold to enter,it should be interesting might go down to -22F at the end of the week...

Well Jonnte, I will start a thread on my "home" area, and take some pics that show off some scenic beauty. My pictures will not be as high quality as those above, I will try not to include too much corn lol

think we all have beauty in our home places,we just tend to get accustomed to what we have around us..
I will prolly discover "new places" after two weeks,when I get in my uniform and participate in the next manouver..with my luck the cold will hold

My friend told me a story from your area, I believe. You have reindeer, correct? He was participating in some sort of training, and he and another serviceman were in Northern Finland. He said it was foggy, and that they couldn't see even a few feet, and with a loud sound were suddenly surrounded by running reindeer! Pretty sure he said Finland. Member of the Marinejegerkommandoen, Norwegian.

Things like that don't happen in Wisconsin Hahaha.

Yeah, there are some nice places here.

So are you wishing for cold? He said during training he would have to "spoon" with another guy in a snowbank. Is that what you are going to go do?

I've experienced cold,bitter cold,with some ****** gear, when I did my service..one guy got his big toes amputated,his own fault,never changed socks,dryed his boots or feet.
the positive about cold is,it's dry and as long as you keep your feet warm and dry,you'll cope .
they will prolly issue us tents.
and we get friends from Sweden to the training too.

those Norwegian marines are hard and though,used to operate in cold. have no idea where they will put us,only that it will be here in the south..

I would make a snow hut,if I had to.
