According to some historians Anthony Johnson, a former slave who worked years to gain his freedom, was the first Black owner of slaves. According to a 1625 census he was “Antonio the *****, a servant”. Anthony was able to work and gain his freedom. He met and married “Mary a ***** woman.

”Although it is not known exactly how or when the Johnsons became free, court records in 1641 indicate that Anthony was master to a black servant, John Casor. During that time, the couple lived on a comfortable but modest estate and Anthony began raising livestock.”

By 1650 Antonio had gained 250 acres of land along the Pungoteague Creek on the eastern shore of Virginia. acquired through the headright system, which allowed planters to claim acreage for each servant brought to the colony. Anthony claimed five headrights . . .
and according to records he owned several White Slaves.

Makes you wonder if BET billionair Robert Johnson is related to this guy? Also makes you wonder why TEACHERS and PROFESSORS never mention this in their rantings about slavery?

First ***** slave owners we other negros in different tribes in Africa, followed by the African Arabs who enslaved black Africans going back as far as the Crusades. And dont forget the Barbary Corsairs who were Africans who raided the coast of England and wales for white slaves.
