hi, I've been starting to prep for some time, and still have a ways to go, I would like to find like minded persons in my area to either start a prep community, or join an existing one. I live in Palatka, FL on 45 acres surrounded by wildlife refuges. I plan on being self sufficient/off the grid soon! Please feel free to contact me if you can help in any way. PS. right now it's just me, the wife and our dog!

howdy from a texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quiet a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or 2..and by all means jump right on in with any replies you have on a topic.and start new topics if/when needed..

Welcome to DPF, there some of us who live within 75 mi of you. Info is free. Correct knowledge is power. 45 a land good start. Also there is a prepped group in your local. Can't remember the name, however if you do some searching for a company here in Fl. that sells preps you could find them. He is within 20 miles of you. I even think he may have been on last years DP show.
Good luck, be safe, God bless.

Hi Daneman420..I am new to the forum here also and about an hour and a half from you (give or take) here in Fla....being new to prepping myself I don't have much to offer in terms of advice except read as much as you can through all the posts...I have found a ton of fascinating and useful information here. If you want advice that you don't see has already been addressed somewhere on the forums ask! I think you will find the folks here most helpful as I have!

Hey, guys and gals. Please be careful of ''groups" don't just through your selves out there. A lot of them are good. You kind of need to think of these people in a group as family. You don't want to just jump right in, and for goodness sake don't let them know your preps and weakness. You need a prepper group or like minded people for sure. You also need people you can trust with your life and of your love ones.
Take your time, learn from this forum, there is a lot to learn ! Gardening, canning, food storage, field/Bush craft, com's, animal husbandry, getting your gear figured out what work and what won't, weaponry-primitive/ modern, medical. There is training you should consider, book's to acquire.
Not saying to join a group, because you sure can't do this as a lone wolf. However I am saying to slow down, dive into DPF, learn form others, ask questions and do your home work. You will find like minded people, when you least expect it.
As always!
Good luck, be safe and God bless.

Thanks Doc pops. I agree 100%. I would like to join a local group or start one in my neighborhood but am very selective especially on my street.
