Our last Food saver brand vacuum sealer died after only a year of not hard use. The one before lasted 5 years. My wife wants to go with something else. Preferably with the jar sealer also. Any ideas, what do you use?

The only food savers I could find, came with sous vide for the attachment. I could not get my jar sealers to work with them.

The other problem I have, is that my regular jar lid attachment doesn't fit the newer jars and and does not seal them. It's seems to be something to do with the neck length of the jars being slightly shorter.

Maybe you will have better luck. I use my 30 year old food saver for jars and nothing else, hoping beyond hope, it will out live me.

I'm looking for one as well. I've been looking at the 12 and 15" commercial models from Cabelas. But been looking at some utube vids doing comparisons on other models. I'll be following this closely

There is the hot jar oven canning for some items. It doesn't work for all items though. When I was looking, Food Saver was the only one with the jar-vac port option that I found. It seemed like I did find a power tool hack but I questioned it at the time. If I can find it, I'll post it.

Somewhere, there is instructions to make a manual jar sealer from a brake bleeder and using the food saver attachments. I need to find that.

I have a commercial vacuum sealer that I like alot, but I screwed up and got a smaller chambered one. I meant to get one that would take roasts and whole chickens. Too large and late to get it sent from China, now. Live and learn. It still beats the food saver hands down but it is a vacuum chamber system. I would recommend one. It is heavy duty.

When I got the vac. Sealer I also ordered 3000 bags. They cost more than the machine. Now, they are no longer available. Sometimes I do get it right.
