When I first started with my own food storage years ago, I searched the LDS sites even though we are not of that religion. They are the ones that have a food calculator for a year, per person in your family so it was easy to know what you need. I used it as a guideline adjusting to what my family likes to eat.
She did say that she didn't cook any of her meat before she cans it. I'm good with that except when I can ground beef, I cook it first. I tried canning raw one time but I found I did not like the texture.
