I went to a garage sale this morning b/c it's only the second one this year I've seen listed in the paper. Usually there are between 3-10 listed every week. It's only the second sale I've been to all year b/c people just aren't having them right now. :( I was certain that this would be the case this year. I'm sure next year will be huge for sales. I got there pretty late (3 hours after opening) and it was obvious that place must've been busy. I asked the lady how busy she was and said they had a line down the road before they even opened up this morning. I think bargain hunters are going thru withdrawls. LOL! I got a few things but nothing major since it was pretty bare.

My takeaway is this......If you live in a rural area where people aren't freaking out about CV, it might be a good year to have a yard sale. The supply (of yard sales) is low, so it seems that the demand is high. You wouldn't think this would be a good time to have one, but it seems as though it most definitely is.

The community I live in is having very few yard sales, but the smaller outlying towns are having several every weekend. Even a couple are having "city-wide" rummage sales. And they are making bank in the process.

My Mom & Dad's moving sale is today and apparently people are out in force and buying lots of stuff. They live in a small town of about 3,000 people.

Where we lived in FL was great for yard sales, but rural MS, not so much. We see one every once in a while and always stop. Most of the Estate sales in this area are run by antique dealers who add their own stuff and jack up the prices. In that respect, I miss FL (and AZ)

Where I live yard sales are not as popular as online classifieds. We have several sites you can go and list your stuff for sale locally. The one my wife sells on is pretty popular, they claim each add is viewed approx. 6,500 times a day. That's a lot more exposure than a yard sale.

Garage sales are good, just not for us. I like farm auctions, I'm always looking for farm collectibles and tools. I now realized I should have gone to fewer auctions and I should have spent that money on prepping supplies. I miss auctions.

There have been a few here. If they demand a mask, I won’t go. I’ve only seen 1-2 with that. The others have been pleasant and everyone seems to be considerate of others’ space etc so it’s actually been pretty nice. Not the number of sales as usual though.
