Hello everyone!
I recently bought 3 Israeli masks that seem to be good condition..
My problem is there are no dates on the NBC canisters so they are trash as far as I'm concerned.
My question is this,
Where can I buy GOOD quality masks and cans to sell in my store that are less than $70?
I know you get what you pay for. With that being said, does anyone have any good experiences with lower cost masks? Recomendations?
Thank you in advance!
Nicholas,
Straighten me out first. Are you buying these retail or wholesale from a supplier or buying them from a surplus store/Ebay? My only reason is that much of the stuff that you see on Ebay may have serious degradation and may be unserviceable. You right on Israeli stuff, they don't typically place a lot date/lot information to see when the product has exceeded its shelf life. Seen a lot of that when we were purchasing field bandages from them at the start of the 2001 Afghan campaign.
You mentioned store: So does that mean you don't have a good supplier? If you don't, possibly contacting one of the many vendors that sell 3M, MSA or Norton (all sell filter or PAPR masks). These are the three big respirator companies except for Scott which produces more of the Self Contained Breathing apparatus (SCBA) or if your unfamiliar with the nomenclature, the ones the fireman use to enter a building. You can certainly if your retail get an account with them and offer your customer the MSRP to your customers. Granted you'd be competing directly with many nationally known web-based respirator retail companies. I typically buy from Approved Mask.com.
Make sure your purchasing the CBRNE type or NATO type respirator filter. These are what would typically get your through a Chemical, Nuclear, Biological or Industrial release. Additionally, as an added suggestion, you should go to the NIOSH website and Mine Safety websites for governance.
As for lower masks...you will find some who don't share my belief on donning a mask in an event. My entire family has access to one and we have several back-ups. Also a well stocked amount of filters. I additionally have PAPR units and have one SCBA. You will find my response regarding PAPR's in another thread on the forum. They are a great seller for men who have beards or those who are claustrophobic (since positive air-pressure prevents the feeling of suffocation during donning procedures).
I don't have any tech manuals on the Israeli mask....you might have to do some searching on them, but before you resell them, consider that should be added to the resale. One mask I will not recommend is the Czechoslovakia or Yugoslavian made (old Warsaw pack mask).
Maverick's mask is a great mask...and the filters he pays are typically the MSRP recommendation.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll see where I can help.
