If the farm towers got punched by flying debris would be bad news for the communities. . . Port Neches and Nederland are merged together for the most part as 1 street is the boarder line. SE TX is a BIG refinery area.

Sure did. My husband had done some installing of security doors and windows to a couple of the houses in that area. One being directly across the street to this plant. All the Windows and doors were fine except one double panes window got cracked on the outside. Everyone else's Windows and doors got broke, shattered or blown off the hinges.

I’m so sorry for all the people that had to evacuate. Surprising there wasn’t much more loss of life but really glad of that at least. That’s a whole city of people that had to find lodging, alternative holiday plans, etc. I hate to think of what toxins are covering the area as well. Don’t think I would want to grow a garden anywhere near the area for a few hundred years now.

There was no loss of life Brent which was surprising actually. . . three workers hurt and released the same day. 5 others had injuries due to glass. I can only think that there were not more since the initial blast was around 1 am and most people were still in bed. It was many communities that had to evacuate due to the close proximity. All of Port Neches, Nederland, Groves and the north part of Port Arthur. Yes so many lives had to get rearranged. Sometimes we go down to moms for Thanksgiving but actually made different plans this year along with my sister who was supposed to have been going to her MILs that lives in Nederland. All that should have been going there ended up leaving and going to her house. No biggy there, they brought whatever they should have brought to one to another. There was a shelter that opened up but only 60 people showed up there and many of those left after the first night finding accomadations eleswhere.

You guys have got to realize that this is refinery country in SE Texas here and everyone benefits from their tax dollars. One of the reasons their locations of schools are the ones to go to.

Just glad your family is safe.
