Here a couple of weeks ago our cabin was hit by thieves and vandals, a week after the Sheriff was contacted an arrest was made last Monday, the Deputy informed us a group of people were using google earth to locate remote cabins and breaking in.

The Deputy says I can have the image blurred on google earth but still doesn't hide the fact that something is their. Needless to say, the damage was done and the loss was expensive.

So be forewarned, if you have a bugout location, check it on google earth and if possible keep every bit of it under the heavy canvas of the trees. I had a white propane tank visible that caught these people eyes.

I guess it was only a matter of time. I use Google Earth to scout out potential rural property, saves a bunch of driving and wasted gas.

Google earth can be a hell of a security risk to preppers. Wonder how many folks have used google earth to marked potential areas on a paper map for future targets in a shtf?

I use Google Earth myself for things like this. Fortunately for others, I guess, I have no ill intentions toward them. But it's quite convenient if you want to learn more about the layout of some place.

According to some of my LEO hog hunting friends, Google Earth is a burglar's dream come true, and they DO use it to scout locations a lot more frequently than you might think. Entries, exits, ground level views.....they can learn a LOT just from scoping the places out on Google Earth.

As far as "preppers" go, unless your overhead view is completely blocked by trees, or camo netting, you're visible, and someone could stumble across your place even if just by accident.
