Greetings. Long time prepper, new member. Married with 2 dogs. The wife was reluctant to acknowledge the need for emergency preparedness, but the blackout of the southwestern US in 2011 was a wakeup call. Immediately after we got food and water reserves, followed by a gas generator, a solar kit, and antibiotics. Didn't take long to realize that we were the only ones in our neighborhood doing so. Not good.

About 6 months later I acquired a 20-acre plot in New Mexico. (This recent event of jihadis training kids in the same vicinity is unsettling.) Nonetheless, we're anticipating to build an off-grid sustainable plot in the boonies of the boonies. My parents are on board. My wife is on board. The dogs are chomping at the bit. Will keep you all posted once we break ground. Until then, I'll chime in when I can.

Welcome from the southeast. Sometimes a small disaster can get you off your butt to prep for more.

Lots of information here, and a lot of experience to draw from. Please feel free to jump in where you can contribute.

Welcome from your soon to be Texas neighbor. It took awhile for my hunny to become on board too but he learned to embrace my odd mentality after going thru a couple hurricanes :).

Warm Welcome from the Arizona valley folks. :USA:

Never been to San Diego but spent some time around Taos NM and its full of preppers as well as semi off grid Native Americans.
