It depends on who's adjusting the numbers.

"The June 2018 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 892,479 is a decrease of 12.2% compared to the June 2017 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,016,213."

Notice the word "adjusted" appears 2 times.
The NICS numbers are accurate +or-1.
When the same numbers are looked at and one sees a 1.3% increase and another sees a 12.2% decrease.........somebody's obviously lying.
Numbers are numbers. They tell the truth.
You don't hear that there are 10.9 NSSF-adjusted eggs in a carton of a dozen.
Agenda driven number tweaking is wrong. Doesn't matter who it is. 2+2 does not equal an 'adjusted' amount of 3.68 .
My 5th grade math teacher told me that there is one correct answer, everything else is incorrect.
She was right.

Don't know what factors are involved in making the 'adjustments'. I do know that my LGS uses the same NICS form for transfers due to sales as he does for guns that I have left with him to sell on consignment, and then take back from him. Not sales, those.
