Hey there folks. I'm new to prepping. I stumbled across this forum thanks to a Google search, and it seems like a good place to look around and learn a thing or two (or likely considerably more, since I'm a newbie). I am currently in Florida, but I'm in the process of relocating to Eastern Tennessee this year, to a place more suited for homesteading and without so many other people right on top of me.

I'll give a short story of how I came to prepping, if anyone is interested. A friend of mine started talking to me a little while back about precious metal stacking, and how it was going to be really important to do because the economy was going to tank, fiat currency would collapse, and everyone would be financially ruined. He sent me links to a couple of YouTube channels, I watched a bunch of videos, and it made a certain amount of sense.

One thing that didn't make sense to me though was that the emphasis was entirely on building up a stack of precious metals in preparation for the collapse of the dollar, the world financial system, another 'great recession', whatever, but no mention was made of having anything else on hand for this event, outside of maybe an offhand comment or two about "my gun being part of my stacking strategy". I just couldn't see the sense in creating a stockpile of silver, gold, platinum, etc, and not taking any other steps to prepare...as if the entire collapse of the countries' economic system wouldn't result in a lot of upheaval, rioting, violence, food shortages, and so on. I'd rather invest my time and money into learning practical skills to see me through all that than building up a supply of shiny stuff that won't get me fed, clothed, and protected during a disaster.

So here I am. I'm looking forward to discussing prepping with all of you, and learning from you all.

Welcome from Alabama. Having precious metals is a good idea, but there is a lot more to do besides that.

Welcome to the group. Have a serious look around, but don’t be afraid to ask any questions. Our members are a great source of knowledge.
