Hey guys!
New to this site. My husband and I were just looking for some like minded people and always searching for new info and ideas.

I'm more so into learning the plants and medicinal purposes. My grandfather was a naturopathic doctor and I learned alot from him even started going to the same college he went to. I also have a brother in the army and a firemen brother as well. They've been teaching me first aid among other things.

My husband and I were actually talking about communities (prepper communities) I wonder if theres any in our state?

Anyways! Nice to meet you guys!

Howdy from Georgia!

I was born and raised in Jackson, have relatives from all over Mississippi and land in the Delta.

My parents were originally from SA they came here on a mission trip and the guy they came with left them here lol. So me an my bro were born in texas an wounded up in ms after they became citizens.

Welcome from a top secret location only 149 people know about. I would suggest creating your own prepper community from family and friends that want to prepare.
That would be good if we werent so reclusive. My family think we're nuts and everything i say goes in one ear and comes out the other lol.

Plus, we don't know many people. But thanks for the suggestion. I was just curious if there were! I see a bunch of different states that have communities but havent found any in ours.

Welcome from South Florida.

Get Tom Brown Jr.'s 'Field Guide to Edible and Medicinal Plants', and 'Peterson's Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants'.

The biggest mistake that beginning herbalists make?

Yarrow is a profoundly useful medicinal plant that is common, and treats a bunch of things very effectively.

Yarrow looks exactly like poison hemlock to the beginner, and grows in the same areas.

Thank you much for the info! I go kinda study crazy on medicinal/edible plant. I definitely have alot to learn. I tried one of the theories once for shits and giggles. Making noodles out of the inner bark on specific trees. Didn't turn out half bad. An since i learned about pine needle tea use it every time we get sick and it works wonders!

Cool. Just remember, learn about the poisonous plants too.

And yew looks a lot like pine, so be careful. Also, make sure you can identify oleander for similar reasons.

All my best.

Yep! That was my first lesson in learning the plants. Too scared of getting poisoned i only tamper with things i can peoperly identify lol.

Welcome from Fin.

learning about wild plants, for food and medicine is good, heck nature can give us so much if we know what to look for.
Completely agree! One of my favorite herbs is cyanne pepper. The awesome thing is when you have a gnarly gash if you put cyanne pepper in it, it not only disinfects it also helps the wound to heal rapidly and clot faster to form a scab. My poor husband is my guinea pig lol.

Definitely agree. God gave us amazing things to work with. Its just we've become so dependent on what the government has given us we forgot that all we need is in our back yard.

Welcome. Medicinal and edible plants are probably one of my bigger weaknesses as a prepper. I look forward to hearing what you learn about!
Whatever i learn ill be happy to share. Still working on my neck of the woods with the edible medicinal plants. Herbs however i know alot better about.

Welcome! I am also interested in herbal medicine. I made a Neosporin replacement out of beeswax, comfy, honey, and calendula iirc that works better than the over the counter stuff. I also collect plantain for poultices and echinacea for poultices and tinctures ... they are easy to identify, at least for me as I grew up with them. There are some on line courses that are occasionally offered for free....
