Hi All!

We are a family of 4 and have been prepping for years. We blessed to purchase our 50+acre homestead in East Texas last year. Dad is an LEO/Firearms Instructor and Mom is an IT guru by day and homestead supermom by night. We're looking for local folks interested in sharing skillsets, learning together and socializing.

Looking forward to chatting with y'all!

Thanks!
Maria

Howdy from the other side of the state, way out in west Texas! Glad to have y'all on here....look forward to gettin' to know you a little bit.

Thank y'all so much! WOW! When I saw "Hello from SA" I immediately thought San Antonio. It's great that folks from other countries are prepping as well. :)

We have family in Georgia, but they are all on base at Ft. Benning.

It seems as though Prepping in the US is starting to transition from the stereotype of crazy survivalist, as more and more people wake up. I attribute much of that (right or wrong) to our current political climate. Is that what the others in the US have been seeing?

And for those outside the US, what have y'all been seeing in your own countries?

Finland has also been touched by firearms related tragedy, but I understand there isn't as much of a call for complete bans. And as part of the EU, wondering if Brexit has caused a stir at all? I think the US has independence so deeply ingrained in our history, and our psyche that the thought of giving it up to another power is beyond unappealing. It seems as though with the smaller population, bug-out-land would be easier to find, but the climate is much harsher. Although I think I remember reading that the population was heavily folks of Finnish descent, so maybe some good skillsets passed down. :)

And South Africa, my goodness, we probably seem like whiners compared to the violence and unemployment experienced in South Africa. It is so beautiful, but I think that level of unrest is exactly what people in the US want to avoid. Do you think that people have become desensitized to it? Do you think it has made them more likely to take a prepping stance?

Hope y'all are having a great week!

Sad to say but i think the majority is just becoming more desensitezed, very few are actually won over to the prepping side of things through current events, they only change their actions or behaviour if they are directly affected by it. Example, till a few months ago we had a system in place called "Load Shedding" whereby they cut power at peak times to various neighbourhoods and towns all over the country to prevent the national electricity grid from collapsing, when this started happening the only thing poeple did was to go and buy a small gennerator, so they could keep the TV going, no consideration was given to what would happen if the national grid did fail, speculation was that in some places it would take about 3 months to startup again. Personally all around the world poeple tend to live in comfort zone bubble when it gets bumped they change a few things to make the bubble a bit more comfortable, to become a prepper you need to step out of that bubble and most do not want to take that step.

Greetings from extreme South Texas ( kinda near S.A., lol). Welcome to the site. If you have questions, just ask.
My Dad was a LEO/ firearms Instructor also.
